Yeah your wrong.I get what you're saying, don't think I'm misunderstanding the concept. The purpose of a heat sink is to offset the amount of heat that an LED is putting out by transferring the heat to the heat sink. Yes? The more efficient the heat sink, the lower the ambient temp will be in the tent/room because it is dissipating heat at a slower rate - since the heat sink is more efficient. Tell me if I'm wrong here.
The heatsink removes the heat faster or slower from the led but it still heats the space the same.
If I get a 600w led bar style light with good heatsinks using Samsung 301b diodes and I get a 600w board sytle light using the same diodes but have it on a plate of 3mm aluminium both will put the same heat into the space.
Or if it helps to grasp, if I put a few pc fans on top of that hot plate of aluminium I can make that plate nice and cool because its been actively cooled. But again the same heat is been dissipated into the tents environment.
And yes not LEDs are equal, but given one top brand using the same wattage and diode as another top brand then the heat will be equal.
Where this changes is when you have an LED with 60% efficiency vs 40% efficiency.
Im only bringing this up because of your misconception , not to defend that particular light.
Anyway im repeating myself now so I will give it a rest.
As far as experience with LED goes, most of the new guys probably started with LED, but there's a ton of guys who grew with HPS for decades before switching to LED and only very very few go back. For some people it doesn't suit their environment , like folks that have cold climates most of the year. Some dogs you cant teach new tricks to either.
There is unfortunately a lot of people who make silly claims like "you get can 2gpw with light X" which though may be possible is not some easy task that comes with just buying the "right" light.
As far as what's better, its horses for course, already far too many volatile arguments going on with this subject and its an argument that gone on for years and will continue for many more to come.
