not wiring my lights done that already, i have a grow box that is a isl240 i beleive and i got my two 1000 plugged into it, but i had to wire the box 220 and the only way i could do that was wiring it to my dryer receptacle, so now i'm out of a dryer. so i figured i coulde get some 220 wire and wire my dryer to my grow box. should work but my dryer has a black, white, yellow wires and my cord has black white and green how do i hook this up?

Oh damn. Scared to respond to this.

Did you wire up both 1000W as a 220?
Or use a single leg of the 220 and split the load between phases?
(most household wire is 600V rated. The amount of current that can be pushed down the wire is based on it's gauge. Think of voltage as pressure and current as volume. A fatter pipe will still keep the pressure but more volume.)

Add a transfer switch. Lights *or* dyer.

the box is rated to run 4 1000 watts and each receptacle on the box has it's own breaker. so how would that blow my box? and how many amps does a dyrer use? the box has 15 amp breakers on each outlet. and each 1000 is directly plugged into the box, my ballasts are swichable from 110 or 220. and i had to put those on 220 or they would trip the 15 amp breaker. once that was done it's worked perfect, now i need my dryer hooked up.

+1 to that. Your lights and dryer running together are probably going to pull too many amps for you circuit. Too many amps means too much heat which means burnt wires which will eventually lead to the fire department explaining to your insurance company that your house burned down because your marijuana grow box wasn't wired properly. Damn that was a mouthful.

If having to choose one or the other isn't an option, then you need to run a new circuit for your dryer. Cutting corners when dealing with wiring is a really dangerous idea.

im pretty sure youll have to upgrade one of those breakers, look behind the dryer, it should tell you how many amps it draws.
there should be no problem doing what you said, it sounds to me that your grow box is a sub panel of some sort.
the yellow wire has to be a ground, it can be nothing else.
o, and use 10 gauge wire.
and if you continue to add things to the "grow box", find out what its rated amperage is, and dont overload.

my grow box is what you said a subpanel, and i looked behind my dyrer and it's like 25 amps so your right i'll have to upgrade my breaker for that receptacle on my grow box right. howard your not on the same page.

Well, too much draw on the wires equals a tripped breaker or blown fuse. Thats their job, to protect the wiring. Breakers have a dual trip mechanism. Thermal and magnetic.

most dryers i have seen are on a 30 amp breaker with 10 guage wire...if you can afford 1000w lights you can afford a new 30a circut for your dryer...as said above...you dont want the fire marshal telling your insurance company or the police your grow room wasnt wired properly...sorry...i feel that if you can afford that equipment with the box and large lights you can afford $200 for a dryer circut also

how the fuck do i hook up 2 1000w without blowing the breaker.... lolz the 400 in my room already gets blown when i fuckin turn the vacuum on =x

i assume you kinda know what your doing, but i failed to mention that you should pick up a double 30amp breaker, its two breakers stuck together with one big switch, the black goes into one, the white into the other, the yellow is your ground, and ground the receptacle, it happened to me once that a dryer stoped working cause it wasnt grounded. normally the screws will ground it if your using bx and metal boxes.

the 400 you have now is sharing load with the other outlets in your house, your grow light should realy be dedicated lines. and to hook up 2 1000's, first make sure the ballast's for the lights are 220, and definitly dedicate this line, 2 1000's will work fine on a 220 line, but most people dont feel comfortable working with extra voltage cause you can die if you make a mistake.
