Weird HPS cooling solution

I was trying to cool my 250w hps without a cooltube and what I figured out is to cool the bulb from the top of the reflector using a cradle spot I made in which I put one of those square frozen thingies made from super hard plastic and it works AMAZING. My question is, in long term will this harm the bulb, so far it's doing great, my logic is in winter the fixtures get covered in snow and they work, so any electricians or experts chime in.

works for 6 hours, and yeah I work from home so It's like changing diapers. I wanna know if it's bad for the bulb, if not I'm gonna increase the surface area, more ice more time.

I mean it will probably be fine seems like a huge hassle though. Run an air conditioner?

I'd recommend against putting a plastic bottle of liquid in direct contact at the top of a hot HID lamp fixture.

In fact, your answer can be gotten by asking yourself this: Does the instruction manual of the light show you how to properly affix an ice pack to the lamp?

This is the kind of thing that causes hair dryer manufacturers to affix labels such as "Do not use in the shower". Do we need new labels on every lamp: "Do not put liquid filled bottles anywhere near this fixture"?

not really a danger if there is no chance of spilling
