Hi all, I found some seeds in one of my bags and decided to try and grow them, they both got germinated and planted at the same time but one is growing much faster then the other. Can someone please help or is it normal for them to grow at different rates? Also is it normal for the plant to be this tall They are both 3WEEKS old. This is my first time growing and it’s only because I happened to find the seeds, I havnt got a proper set up or anything just playing around really to see how it gets on! Wish me luck guys

No two plants are created equally. As sprouts they tent to go through stages of focusing on root growth and focusing on leaf/stem growth. Did they both get above ground at the same time? Smaller one took longer im guessing?

Yeah the smaller one popped out last, but only 2 days later.

Yes it's normal for plants to grow at different rates. What kind of light you using? Edit... yes they need more light and better spectrum.
Looks like they are stretching a bit.

Stop growing them on your windowsill and invest in a small 2x2 tent and a 150 watt light and grow some dank!
Hello BucketGrower,
I just finished building a 20”x20”x48“ grow tent for my first attempt at growing inside my garage.
Unfortunately even with good ventilation I can’t get the temp below 90 degrees with my 300 watt light on.
Do you think a 150 watt light would suffice in my size tent to grow 1-2 nice plants?

Thanks,
Steve

150w should be plenty for a tent that size.

Unfortunately, even with a 150w light instead you likely won't solve your heat issues. 150w = ~525 BTUs of cooling needed, and that's just for the light. That doesn't account for the actual tent itself being cooled.

Ventilation will only make things as cool/warm as the ambient temps of the room your tent is in. You mentioned it's located in your garage, and most garages are hot as fuck and have stagnant air.

You either have to move the tent to a cooler room with lower ambient temps, or invest in cooling.

Even if you had a good LED light in your tent you'd still have issues with temps unfortunately.

Thats a pretty vague statement. An attached, insulated garage actually keeps pretty decent temperatures. Summer you would need an ac unit. A lot of people heat their garages. It all depends where you live. Personally I like having an attached heated large 2 stall garage with all my tools plus a pole barn for seasonal toys/vehicles.

You could do LED and put the driver outside the tent. You might want to look into strips, or mild QB's so they can get close since you only have 4ft of height to work with. It depends on your budget, and if you wanna build your own DIY light, or buy a kit or a premade light.

Fair enough, it does entirely depend on your location as well as the garage itself.

But when the guy says he can't keep his temps below 90 degrees, nothing else really matters at that point. He needs an AC for sure. He could grow with CFLs and still need an AC if those are the temps he's dealing with.

Wow!!! Thanks everybody for you quick responses. This is a great community.
I have an attached garage which never gets below 60 degrees in winter, but gets up to 80 degrees in summer.
I think my heat problem will be moot in about a month or so.
I was just hoping that a 150 watt light could extend my indoor grow time, and wondering if 150 watts produced enough light for my tent.

150 should be perfect for a 20x20
