I'm doing a couple of autos this year as well. First time I've ever grown an auto. The person who gave me the seeds advised that because of the short growing time of autos that limits their size, a three gal will be more than enough size pot for them, so keep that in mind before you fill the 10 gal pots.

You might want to research this further yourself, but the autos I'm putting out are currently in one of my veg tents in 3 gal pots. I'm going outside 1st of June. I'm going to start two more that same day, starting them directly outdoors from seed in 3 gal also.

Depends on the genetics... Most autos do well in a 3 or a 5 gallon pot. But some get big enough to justify a 7... That said... A 10 gal may be over kill... But if he can't easily get to it daily a 10 gal pots won't dry out as fast as a 3 gal that might need watered every day or 2 during hot weather.

this will be my first auto grow as well! I have heard about the 3 gallons but also see alot of folks pulling 1 to 2 zips more from going up to the 5 gallon. I decided to go with 10 because they will be outdoor full sun and i want them to get to thier full potential. I just dont want any what ifs. I got my dirt and amendments at a decent price and ill be using the dirt at least once again and the pots many many s as i usually grow photos.

Any reason why your waiting until june? Im about to put these out in about a week or so.

these are supposed to be pretty big, they will be many many many miles from me and yes this summer will be hot af, im going to try and do 2 auto runs this year, the end of this one and beginning of the next will be hot as fuck so maybe the 10 was a great idea?

Make some Bio-char for your pots and that will also preserve moisture and nutrients. I just made some and raked it out on the concrete to reduce the moisture to package it for friends and fam. It’s was over 100 degrees here in AZ this past week and that 1 inch thick layer of Bio-char was still moist and cool underneath after 72hrs on concrete! If you know where there was a burn pit, forest fire, city landscape waste burn box or arson incident, you can pick up the proper char you need. It is the lightest pieces that sound like glass when you tap them. Rinse, soak, charge and you’re in there like swimwear.

yeah, guess 3 gal will be perfect. ive started mine indoors as well, kept them 24/0 for about 2 weeks, than went to 18/6 for two days inside and then threw them outside last sunday, looks like its working well. journal is in my sig if you want to check

just checked out your grow, they look nice and BIG lol I cant wait until mine get to be that size as ive never grown an auto past a seedling lol.

Like cheetah said. It’s a solo cup with about 75% of the outside cut out inside a regular cup. When it was time to transplant all I had to do was take the cutout cup out and place it into the 5 gallons. Btw there was a large hole in the bottom as well.

same except I started outdoors. I love em both honestly I could go in or out. Same for the autos too this year I will run quite a few and get a solid opinion on them.

I haven’t seen the ladies in 9 days. It’s Been raining on and off here with weather in the high 70s and 80s. I would really like to feed them but I’m sure they have gotten plenty of water and will be at least a week before they need me. Can’t wait to see ‘em and upload some pics

Went to visit the ladies yesterday. They are all doing okay. One was completely pulled out the pot but was still growing? So I repotted it lol. Each plant got about 2.5 gallons of water they were fed as well. They are all about 3 weeks old give or take. I’ll be returning today to spray them all down with neem oil and attempt to get rid of an ant infestation on one or two of them. Overall I’m happy though I’m excited to see their growth. These are my first autos so how do they look??

Update.

lost two plants... it is what it is when it comes to guerrilla grows. I saw pre flowers on just about all of them, how much bigger will they get? Remember this is my first auto grow.

My 2¢ ... they would have done much better if you simply removed plant from solo and planted as a plug. Solo is restricting lateral growth. That’s why its growing straight up instead of spread out.

Its too late to deal with it now as autos have a very limited veg stage before preflower. Once it begins preflower, plant size is what it is , and yield will show much less.

10 gallons of good soil is enough to carry autos all the way thru its average 90 day life. Actually 10 gallons is a bit much for autos. The first 5-6 weeks autos setup the rootmass , any issues that drags on plant during that time will show during grow.
