Did i top too much? See pictures please

Hey all. This is my first photo grow. I’ve had several successful auto grows so I figured I’d try photos. BIG difference in size and growth time lol. I’m on the second/third week of flower. Everything is great but the feel I have too many bud sites. Please give your opinion based on my pictures. I’m guessing worst case I wind up with bunch of little buds?? I didn’t realize how much bigger the photo period plants are compared to autos. One plant fills the entire tent!

Wished I would have read your replies sooner. I pinched about 15 or 20 small buds off thinking it would make the main ones at the top grow bigger. Was that not a good idea?

No such thing as too many bud sites. A real thing to have too little light to bring out the potential in them.

Nothing wrong there, I'd have put a net in though to open up the plant for more light to hit all bud sites, also net for support, you're going to need it lol


This is my last run in this picture, 1 plant in dwc 20L bucket under a 600w hps
I topped multiple times and pulled 10Oz 8G off it dry!

Just some confusion on what to cut. Generally bud sites shaded too much to get enough light to grow well can be removed, on the top of the plant by the lights it defeats your purpose. But its not a total loss the others will get plumper for it. Prob not make up for it completely but not a total fail!

The real lesson is wait for an answer before starting...rare to not have time to get responses!

You could always wait until the tops are ready, cut them and leave the bottoms on so they continue to get light until their ready

I got a little carried away after a few beers and just started going Edward Scissor hands. Lesson learned.

I didn't know how many bud sites my little potted plant could take. I thought (stupidly) that removing the lower smaller buds it might push production of the bigger main colas up top. I wasn't worried about too many mains. I was concerned with all the little ones that were lower. The "little ones" I left have now gotten bigger. Go figure. Dumb mistake but first time growing a photo period plant.

I guess it depends how low you are talking honestly. If the bud sites are barely getting light because they are so far down it might be better to remove them. Otherwise they may have been tiny larfy buds which the plant could have used those resources towards larger buds at the top.

May Day!!! May Day!! Lol. I am about one month in on flower now. Some one mentioned that I would have to support the plant. Well, that time has come and wondering how much bigger the buds will get. If you guys predict them getting much larger I need to start planning.

It is tough to see in the pics but the plants look quite healthy. For good input try some pictures under normal light bulbs or something

if you are 30 days in you should try to wait at least 40 more days depending on the strain you are running.Around 70 days of 12/12 is usually a good area to consider Harvesting
