hi
I just bought a 400 watt HPS Sunburst (Hydrofarm) light. It's an all in one type light and i didnt realize how damn heavy it is. My growing area is in a room that has extrememly high ceilings so I don't think that it's possible to hang it from the ceiling. How do ya'll have your lights rigged up?

i have mine hanging but if you have high ceilings then you could hang it or buy or build a stand that holds it above your stalk

You could hang a couple shelf-hanger strips. Purchase them at the big-box for about $7 each. Then hang a couple shelf arms. Suspend a chain in between for the HPS lamp. The entire solution is sturdy, under $30, and simple to install.

Id use chains and hooks and yo yo hangers but you can just go buy 2 inch pvc and make a stand over your grow are and hang it from that only tools would be a saw of somekind to cut pipe lengths all stuff at home depot or lowes maybe $12

you can get something as cheap as a couple screw-in hooks to put in the ceiling and then get some chain from a hardware store to hand the lights to your desired height. i did it this way and also bought a couple bolts and nuts to be able to adjust the height of the lights.

I took a picture of what I have going on. I am growing in my closet with very high ceilings so what I used were the white close racks that were already hanging in the closet. I am not sure what they run but they work well for hanging my light and also using as shelves for my nutes and such. Its kind of hard to see in the pic thats why I explained it.

you might check out a industry called PDR (paintless dent removal)
any tool company will sell light stands, that are adjustable.

thats what im using with my T5 light right now, but im trying to hang my 600watt hps and its HEAVY (like 30-40 lbs)

i think im gonna try that again, but im scared the hooks will fall out with such heavy weight hanging from it
