had to chop a plant unexpectedly and saw this thread about the brown paper bags and just did like this said. Came out perrrfect.
I'm pleased for you buddy. There is nothing worse than ending up with hay buds.

Undoubtedly hanging the plant is a better way than brown paper bags, however for those who cannot hang the plants the paper bag method is still a pukka way to dry your buds. It does a great job for you.

I will take some photo's of the dried bud.

Easy to do this in the summer, but if it was pissing down with rain everyday in the winter it may not be so easy.

I'm getting one of these for the winter...

Yes summer is better for paper bags, a more humid and not so warm climate could spell disaster which brings serious limitatations and poss why so many have fucked up.

Weed dryers are starting to catch on the natural dry rather that worry so much about humidity. I just need to cycle some air slowly and trap the smell not fuss the other details, thats the premise of drying and so long as its not to fast or slow its all good. Kind of like paper bags, if you cycle the air enough and it dries in under a week your golden.

Some must lack the approach when describin the paper bag method, just seems foolproof when reality you need to know whats really happening to keep it controlled.

Id keep the dried bud in the bag for an extra week, try some then i bet its a lot smoother smoke and harder hitting than that just dried stuff, is that a better way than jarring and burping because its still exsposing the bud to the same air, wouldnt even close the bags the second week.

Lots to think about in that method.

It worked so well for me I just chopped another one and threw it in the paper bag. 1 1/12 days and it probably only needs another day before it goes into the jar. Awesome!!! I think this will be how I do it from now on.

The holy grail aka Blimburn Seeds Cindy. These have stems on still when curing, for the moment anyway.

This is weed cocaine! No other way of saying it... Best strain ever. Buzz lasts longer and makes your face fuzzy whilst flowing pure energy through the body. This is mine. Nobody else will have any, no friends trying it. It's just too important for my life.

Maybe sticking this in the bag for another 12-24 hours...

Will be in the dark for the next week in this bag, whilst the moisture even itself out. I will check rh after 3 days. The jars have rh metres in.

DSCN4946.JPG

Keep pushing the tops down and mildly bending them with gentle force. They grow back 2 hours later, but do it 2 or 3 times per day to keep an even canopy. I'm going to be busy trimming in 9 weeks. Looking for a clean run!! lol

Last 2 plants to chop...

One I have trimmed the buds off now, a G13 Cindy. Both will be done. Doing this through the spin pro. Too much trimming for me currently. I hand trim the important stuff. G13 right, keeper. White siberian. Lovely weed, but slow, left. She's a goner. Nice strain though, just not for me. Doesn't stretch enough.

My harvests aren’t as nice as yours YET but I gotta say man, that simple little “throw it in a bag” technique has literally changed my entire situation. So that’s kind of a big deal! No more hay nuggets or over drying while hanging for me!!

Holy shit are you way overthinking how to dry, i only get hay if i do stupid stuff like bag wet bud or jar wet bud and try to slow the dry and mold is a sure sign your doing just that.
You give awful advice omg. Everywhere I go. Not one picture either. DO YOU EVEN ACTUALLY GROW?!?!? I just went alllllll the way back to 2015 and I did not see one single picture. You are starting to seem like some old washed out hippy who just sits online talking all day and spreading around half assed info based on things you read from "bro science" clowns. Which is ironic as you were trying to argue hermaphroditism with at least 3 people who obviously have some type of backgrounds in science. You literally did a 180 in that conversation, too. From talking shit to us saying all hermies are the growers fault... to then saying we're all stupid and to let you know when somebody "stabilizes" a hermie free strain.

Total clown, you are.

Also, to anybody struggling with the dry trim... I was always a wet trimmer. I was taught that the hay smell comes from the wet trim. It seemed counterintuitive to me. I was wrong. WAY WRONG. It has to do with the length of the dry, same as it does the cure. You want a slow dry for a superior product. 50-60 degrees is best. Sucks waiting longer, but it doesn't suck maximizing your terps!

It definitely DOES suck dry trimming... but they make manual crank trimmers now for less than $150. A hand operated trimmer like the dispensaries use. Yeah, it steals a little.. but it's your own, and you can obviously reclaim it. It's sooooo much faster and it allows you to dry with leaves on without fretting the labor that's coming lol

I'm really pleased for you buddy. Your weed looks greasy. It looks dank as f*ck! Sticky icky icky...

Been growing 10 years. Yields always get better, but this way of drying is a nice tip to know. Glad you have taken some knowledge from my thread and put it to good use.

Theres a million threads just this year on jarring wet bud, enclosing wet bud and the bad smell and taste that follows. No one is saying paper bags wont work but the appreciation for the moisture that can build and why those that make it work at this stage need to refresh the air many times was all that has been implied.

Everyone use to hang their harvest until it was great smoke, the cure was an after thought as buds were top shelf. Those were pros, now look at the mess its in with not understanding moisture percentage and boveda and everyone saying the cure or your bud is terrible.

Just glad this guy is trying something and so far its working for him, do you need a list of all the threads someone did this and got mold just this month alone? It might help you see its a little harder than just bag seal and come back with a jar in a week.

Its not a new method or a favoured one, for years everyone knew the best way to dry bud, why do you think these methods have never been standard or wouldnt we all be doing the same.

Brown bagging is fine and actually good for growers that do not have a proper dry area. Bags exchange air at slower rate and buds can dry uniformly. Bag can be rolled time to time to distribute buds and break up clumping. They can stored safely in closet corner , under bed , etc. However , I toss in a small hygrometer in bag too.

Sealed paper bags are bad at exchanging air, a lot of paper is. Filtration paper is more able to exchange air through it.

I had a word with a buddy down at a printing press and he sketched up a design for a paper bag that will exchange air and humidity at a much better rate that your average brown paper bag, were going to call it BAGVEDA. 3 dollars for the 10"x5" ranging right up to 100 for the 90"x40" and were talking a range of stealth color designs reusable for upto three harvests. We will slow dry your bud to 55% and with a new terp-lock system were adding you wont loose that flavour and smell like some competitor bags do and cannamed has rated us full PPE.

An excellent descriptive post with important info. Thank you.

That even dry is great isn't it! All the buds smell the same at the end... They almost pass dankness onto each other :weed:

I like to start with say 8 bags per strain, then after 2 days, go to 4 bags, then just before it feels ready, I put the whole lot in 2 bags to slow the dry even more. For the reason of an even dry also. The pop corns turn out lush. I mix the little buds and bigger buds in together. Popcorn buds dry really slowly, whilst drying the big buds which don't get mold. I wouldn't like to put the big buds in the same bag. Just doesn't make sense to me for the reasons above.

Yes the paper does dry. Just not as fast as it would in open air. As mentioned the slower the better.

@2Hearts Like it was pointed out yesterday... Do you even grow bro?!?!

I don’t actually, this plant was a sad story. I was paying a buddies entire rent to let me grow at his place cuz I wanted more space and it pays for itself in the long run, well long story short I showed up unexpected and they were being jammed into garbage bags to be stolen smh hence where I say chopped unexpectedly. I do however have a written journal of my personal project and a bunch of pics on it. Was vegging a bunch to put outdoors when I found I had magically gotten my hands on hundreds of sour d autos. They started to bloom and I have to keep them where they are now lol
