With the heat where you live i would suggest going COB LED. You are going to have to do heaps of research yourself. I suggest the site growweedeasy.com - out of all the conflicting info out there, following their tutorials enabled me to get a great result (1G / W meaning one gram of finished bud per watt of light) on my first grow - 4x4 , 650w HPS + LEDS, Coco medium.
I would suggest growing in coco, and you will need a reliable way to measure PH levels. The meters are cheap, but calibrating the meter so its really accurate is not easy. Eventually i resorted to buying 250ml of PH7 calibration fluid and calibrating a cheap meter with a single point screwdriver based calibration system to that. I was able to get within .2 PH accurate using buffer powder solutions, which is adequately close enough. Use diluted phosphoric acid for lowering PH, and baking soda to raise it.
To get yield you will want to use the SCROG method, i would suggest 4 plants in 5 gallon fabric pots, tip twice. Its hard to find photos of a SCROG taken just after the flip defoliation where you can clearly see the structure, here is a photo of my first scrog grow at that point.
As others have said, a 6" carbon filter, ducting, and air pump.
STEALTH!!!! - Smell control, noise control, light control, "looks suss" control.
A quality carbon filter has an extraordinary ability to de-stink your main ventilation output, but the room that you have the tent in will stink badly.
You can reduce this by having a large negative pressure in the tent, but if the negative pressure gets too high it will reduce yield. (tent fabric pulling in = ok, tent poles bending under the pressure = bad
If you have ever made homebrew beer, i would say that growing weed is about 10x as complex as beer in a can and 3x as complex as all grain brew.
BTW i only have one grow experience, but i have come from a very similar situation to you - trying to self educate enough to successfully grow to modern standards with very little horticulture background. As i said before, growweedeasy.com was my main reference.
