Unsatisfying yields

So i just pulled down 7 DWC plants which yielded 1.5 combined and i cannot work out what im am doing wrong during my grow. The plants were topped once, LST And defoliated i have 600w air cooled hps so lighting isn’t the problem. Wondering if my training is causing the issue due to inexperience. Vague description i know but if someone could shed some light on what potentially i could be doing wrong that would be great. Ive heard with 2 600s i should be doing 36oz from 6 and im drastically below that. Thanks in advance

I would try skipping the defoliation. Defoliation can be horrible for a plant if you aren't jamming it full of nutrients to make up for the lack of photosynthesis caused by removing so many leaves.

Well last time i did 9 plants and got 25oz which still isn’t great and i only topped and lst but thank you for the suggestion. My friend seems to think it’s because im topping them. Hes not a believer in topping but i feel as tho its better than the standard Christmas tree shape for getting better yields,

Marcorfl what`s the size of your grow area?

I grow 4 plants in a 4x4, topped many times, and use 1000 watts of LED.

Your plants probably take up 4 square feet each, so you'd need a space of about 8x4 for 7 plants.

If you're a relatively inexperienced grow expect .25 to .5 grams per watt - that would be 300 grams or 10 1/2 ounces from one 600 watt light.

How many ounces of dried cured bud will you get from this grow?

My grow room is 8x4. This grow 7plants 12.5oz avg1.7 per plant. last grow 9 plants 25 oz avg 2.7

I think there are some variables unaccounted for to explain the difference in your yields. Was it the same strain/clones? If its seeds, you can expect some differences. Did you harvest at the same time (if its clones), maybe you harvested a little earlier this last time. Did you track everything else that may have happened, maybe you were getting environmental issues due to seasonal changes outside?

If your not in a sealed room, it can get hard to definitely say what could have impacted your yields since the ability to control your room is significantly different.

I use seeds and order from royal queen seeds as i dont know any other good websites. I was tracking nutes, started first week of flowering at 1.0ec and tracked and adjusted every week. I was thinking about maybe trying manifolding this grow or do you guys not suggest that. I also only have 1 movement fan in the corner of the room which is a 16 inch. Maybe that plays a part too

I manifold mine so they will fill the tent while staying low. Just keep in mind that topping and manifolding will require a longer veg time.

I have zero fans in my tent. Air movement is created with passive intake and air being pulled through a the carbon filter and exhausted. I doubt the fan used for air movement has anything to do with you unsatisfying yields.

It's not difficult to do, you just need to be careful that you don't bend too hard and snap branches. I wait until my plants have 6 nodes, then I top the plants above the 3rd node, and remove the nodes below the 3rd node (but leave the fan leaves). Then I wait until the two remaining shoots are a few inches long and then I gently pull them down and stake them to the soil. As they grow longer I just keep adding steaks. Sometimes I will only top once and sometimes I will top twice and do the same thing to the ends of the two main shoots.

This is how mine look a couple of days after I start the process:

and this is how they look as I keep staking them down

How long are you vegging for..? What nuitrient line are you feeding ? What the PH set to? Grow room temps day and night ? and how many time did you top...and how far from the canopy is your light..?also how much did you defoliate...and when ???

I'd go longer. I veg for a minimum of 6 weeks, but usually closer to 8 weeks, and it makes a huge difference. It usually takes me a minimum of 6 weeks to get the canopy of 4 plants to fill my 4x4 tent from wall to wall.
Do you think growing dwc effects veg time?
