Complete newb, can I attach the carbon filter to fan like this?

Hey guys, happy Saturday. First time setting up a fan and filter. Can I run the carbon filter directly connected to the AC infinity fan or should I use some duct work to separate the two? I'm not sure if I'd get a tight enough seal from the clamp if I don't use ductwork.

The clamp obviously needs to go on but just looking at design options right now. I also want to be able to easily disconnect the filter when it's not needed (no smell during veg, why waste the carbon).

Make it air tight.

Plants smell in veg, some more than others. That might not matter to you, would to me though.

As for saving the carbon, I’ve seen some people on here say that you can reactivate them by putting it in the oven for a while

Thats how mines setup besides i have a inline booster fan behind the actual fan sucking in air for better airflow. Aluminium duct tape works wonders too

Thanks for the help everyone.

Interesting...I'll have to read up on that. Do you just leave yours on the whole grow? I guess I'm just not sure how long they last and how often you'd be replacing them if they were used the whole grow.

I've got some of that laying around. I could use that to seal the filter to the fan before clamping...hmm. Thanks.

Yeah man it’s honestly kind of a pain to hang it without the help of my fiancé so I just wouldn’t bother with it myself. I did just change my system up to where only the carbon filter is in the tent up in the top corner, that’s attached to insulated ducting that runs to my inline which I made a box for to try and keep a little more quiet, which then is then vented through ducting into the next closet over.
