what if you dont like the smell of lawn grass and the fact that it is not a sustainable practice to use all of that water to keep it green blalbalba. that guy deserves anything that happens to him for that shit no one is going to make cannabis legal.

when no one home invades him and no one retaliates against the sign guy will people show us a little more respect? doubt it.

My point was just that retaliation will only fuel the fire. There are a lot of people and organizations that work hard to put together reasonable arguments why mj should be legal. Vigilante justice against those that don't agree with you usually doesn't win over any new supporters. Of course I wouldn't exactly call egging someone's house vigilante justice...

I think the pro mj movement would go a lot better if there was wide spread publicity about the TRUTH of how mj is no where near as harmful as alcohol. Most people I know who are against mj truly believe it is as harmful as heroine :wall:... it's frustrating as hell to hear shit like that! Yet we don't see enough out there in our media to dispell this falacy.

We have a long way to go in this struggle to free the weed :(

i was agreeing, i'm just not eloquent. :bigjoint:

what i was was saying was, if something bad happened they would all yell "SEE, POT SMOKERS ARE BAD". but when we all just calmly walk away do we get praised? no. bastards. :finger:

pot farmers are some of the most peaceful people, some of the oddest as well. :bigjoint::bigjoint:

none of it makes any sense. the government has made gods creations illegal. how ridiculous is that? it should be a non starter yet it is the most successful prohibition of a plant ever, and it is enslaving, killing, and risking all out extinction, yet we can go on with this situation that makes the matrix look sane and you want to call me out?????

Yep... I agree.... we will always be viewed by some as "bad pot smokers". I take extreme delight when these "morally superior" assholes get caught with their pants down doing the very thing they speak out against.

I didn't call you out... I pointed out that you really didn't present a logical argument with the "cut lawn smell" statement. If you read my post that YOU responded to you would see all I was saying is if it were legal I would support restrictions on odor in residential neighborhoods. To use your own logic... god made chickens too.... but I bet if you plunked down a few hundred thousand on your own home you wouldn't be too happy if a neighbor put up a chicken coop in their backyard with a few hundred chickens. The smell would be offensive to most in the neighborhood... although perhaps not the guy who owns the chickens.

Again... I happen to love the smell of mj.... but I wouldn't assume that my neighbors do as well. I was trying to come from a point of compromise so all could be happy. :blsmoke:

restrictions on odor in residential neighborhoods? Now that is laughable. There are no restrictions on how much stinky perfume a person can put on before they get into a crowded elevator.

If we're going to get into scent restrictions then the first to be hit should be the pertochemical laced perfume industry. Most perfumes have chemicals in them that are on the EPA toxic chemical list. The reason they are allowed to be used in the manufacturing of perfumes is that the laws on trade secrets trump the laws on poisoning people. Once whale oils were no longer allowed to be used in perfume manufacturing they perfume industry turned to petrochemicals. Every time you splash on your favorite scented product remember you may as well be splashing gasoline on yourself.

Principal chemicals found in scented products are:

ACETONE (in: cologne, dishwashing liquid and detergent, nail enamel remover) - On EPA, RCRA, CERCLA Hazardous Waste lists. "Inhalation can cause dryness of the mouth and throat; dizziness, nausea, incoordination, slurred speech, drowsiness, and, in severe exposures, coma." "Acts primarily as a central nervous system (CNS) depressant."

BENZALDEHYDE (in: perfume, cologne, hairspray, laundry bleach, deodorants, detergent, vaseline lotion, shaving cream, shampoo, bar soap, dishwasher detergent) - Narcotic. Sensitizer. "Local anesthetic, CNS depressant"... "irritation to the mouth, throat, eyes, skin, lungs, and GI tract, causing nausea and abdominal pain." "May cause kidney damage." "Do not use with contact lenses."

BENZYL ACETATE (in: perfume, cologne, shampoo, fabric softener, stickup air freshener, dishwashing liquid and detergent, soap, hairspray, bleach, after shave, deodorants) - Carcinogenic (linked to pancreatic cancer); "From vapors: irritating to eyes and respiratory passages, exciting cough." "In mice: hyperanemia of the lungs." "Can be absorbed through the skin causing systemic effects." "Do not flush to sewer."

BENZYL ALCOHOL (in: perfume, cologne, soap, shampoo, nail enamel remover, air freshener, laundry bleach and detergent, vaseline lotion, deodorants, fabric softener) - "irritating to the upper respiratory tract" ..."headache, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, drop in blood pressure, CNS depression, and death in severe cases due to respiratory failure."

CAMPHOR (in: perfume, shaving cream, nail enamel, fabric softener, dishwasher detergent, nail color, stickup air freshener) - "local irritant and CNS stimulant" ..."readily absorbed through body tissues" ..."irritation of eyes, nose and throat" ..."dizziness, confusion, nausea, twitching muscles and convulsions" "Avoid inhalation of vapors."

ETHANOL (in: perfume, hairspray, shampoo, fabric softener, dishwashing liquid and detergent, laundry detergent, shaving cream, soap, vaseline lotion, air fresheners, nail color and remover, paint and varnish remover) - On EPA Hazardous Waste list; symptoms: "...fatigue; irritating to eyes and upper respiratory tract even in low concentrations..." "Inhalation of ethanol vapors can have effects similar to those characteristic of ingestion. These include an initial stimulatory effect followed by drowsiness, impaired vision, ataxia, stupor..." Causes CNS disorder.

ETHYL ACETATE (in: after shave, cologne, perfume, shampoo, nail color, nail enamel remover, fabric softener, dishwashing liquid) - Narcotic. On EPA Hazardous Waste list; "...irritating to the eyes and respiratory tract" ..."may cause headache and narcosis (stupor)" ..."defatting effect on skin and may cause drying and cracking" ..."may cause anemia with leukocytosis and damage to liver and kidneys" "Wash thoroughly after handling."

LIMONENE (in: perfume, cologne, disinfectant spray, bar soap, shaving cream, deodorants, nail color and remover, fabric softener, dishwashing liquid, air fresheners, after shave, bleach, paint and varnish remover) - Carcinogenic. "Prevent its contact with skin or eyes because it is an irritant and sensitizer." "Always wash thoroughly after using this material and before eating, drinking, ...applying cosmetics. Do not inhale limonene vapor."

LINALOOL (in: perfume, cologne, bar soap, shampoo, hand lotion, nail enamel remover, hairspray, laundry detergent, dishwashing liquid, vaseline lotion, air fresheners, bleach powder, fabric softener, shaving cream, after shave, solid deodorant) - Narcotic. ..."respiratory disturbances" ... "Attracts bees." "In animal tests: ataxic gait, reduced spontaneous motor activity and depression ... development of respiratory disturbances leading to death." ..."depressed frog-heart activity." Causes CNS disorder.

METHYLENE CHLORIDE (in: shampoo, cologne, paint and varnish remover) - Banned by the FDA in 1988! No enforcement possible due to trade secret laws protecting chemical fragrance industry. On EPA, RCRA, CERCLA Hazardous Waste lists. "Carcinogenic" ..."Absorbed, stored in body fat, it metabolizes to carbon monoxide, reducing oxygen-carrying capacity of the blood." "Headache, giddiness, stupor, irritability, fatigue, tingling in the limbs." Causes CNS disorder.

a-PINENE (in: bar and liquid soap, cologne, perfume, shaving cream, deodorants, dishwashing liquid, air freshener) - Sensitizer (damaging to the immune system).

g-TERPINENE (in: cologne, perfume, soap, shaving cream, deodorant, air freshener) - "Causes asthma and CNS disorders."

a-TERPINEOL (in: perfume, cologne, laundry detergent, bleach powder, laundry bleach, fabric softener, stickup air freshener, vaseline lotion, cologne, soap, hairspray, after shave, roll-on deodorant) - ..."highly irritating to mucous membranes"... "Aspiration into the lungs can produce pneumonitis or even fatal edema." Can also cause "excitement, ataxia (loss of muscular coordination), hypothermia, CNS and respiratory depression, and headache." "Prevent repeated or prolonged skin contact."

Unable to secure MSDS for the following chemicals: 1,8-CINEOLE; b-CITRONELLOL; b-MYRCENE; NEROL; OCIMENE; b-PHENETHYL ALCOHOL; a-TERPINOLENE

Chloroform was found in tests of fabric softeners: EPA's 1991 study.

A room containing an air freshener had high levels of p-dichlorobenzene (a carcinogen) and ethanol: EPA's 1991 study.

if u dont mind me adding to the ideas instead of fighting him or egging his sh*t why dont u just germinate a ton of swag seeds then go plant them in his yard but somewhere kinda hidden then when they get big put a sign outside his place saying "since i got the competition busted come buy my pot" lets see what happens. itd be funny but make sure u hide the sign so he wont see it unless he walks outside. lol

not here. i go to the club and buy clones. ooopppps, i just told someone. i got to the hydro store and buy a ballast. oppps, just told someone. i went to Home Depot one night to buy a T for my hood exhaust. it was rather expensive. as dude at the counter was ringing it up he was explaining to me how he did his. told me to just use this then cut it and tape it like this and that. it was hella funny. all i did was set the T on the counter and he knew what was up. maye i stunk. :eyesmoke::eyesmoke:
Funny shit man...

I went to look at an apartment to rent the other day and the guy was showing and explaining everything...

and then he said that the electricity was very cheap, unless I had a hydroponic set-up in the closet... then it would be a little more...

Freaked me the fuck out...

I liked the place... lots of storage... I could fit 6 of my tents behind closet doors...

But do I need an apartment manager that knows what a hydro set up is..???? when he has a key to the place..????

Shit no!!!!

I went looking for houses today..lol....

As for the dude with the sign...

he is making his own bed.. let him lie down...

People like that are best left alone...

I actually hope the guy wins the lottery... moves to a better house and gets to be doing so well, he forgets about bugging everyone else...

the more miserable he feels, the more he will want to bring everyone down...

It;s a loose loose situation... wish him well so he may forget us... grampa used to say that...

restrictions on odor in residential neighborhoods? Now that is laughable. There are no restrictions on how much stinky perfume a person can put on before they get into a crowded elevator.

Actually, no it's not laughable.... it's very real. I paid good money for my home (residential neighborhood) and if a neighbor moved in and put 100 chickens in his/her backyard I would have a HUGE problem with that neighbor... if they did nothing to contain the chicken odor. I would absolutely pursue all legal action I could to get those chickens removed from my residential neighborhood. If the guy wants to have stinky chickens... let him move out to the Country.

The smell not only affects my enjoyment of my property... it actually decreases my home value. Can you see people coming to look at a home for sale... get out of the car... take a whiff and get right back in the car and leave. I can see how a strong odor of mj could have the same effect.

I simply don't think it's too much of a compromise to require growers in residential neighborhoods to control the odor. If they don't want to do that then perhaps they should move to the Country. We need to remember that our rights end where they begin to trample on another's.

Regarding your perfume argument... WTF? That is so far removed from the discussion at hand I'm not sure why you used that one. Perfume doesn't affect a neighborhood or property value.... sure it may make for an unpleasant elevator ride, but not the very home you paid good money to buy and live in. Not the air you breathe when you step out into your backyard. But since you went there I will tell you that at SEVERAL companies I've worked at employees have been told by human resources (because of complaints) to stop wearing perfume/colonge or tone it down...way down. Their right to wear perfume does not trump their co-workers right to stink free work environment.

Again, my argument is only to support compromise. FUCK... if weed were legal FOR ALL EVERYWHERE in the States I don't get why it would be such a big deal to expect people to control the odor in residential neighborhoods. When the fuck did pot heads become such disrespectful butt heads to their neighbors? Hmmmm maybe it's not such a surprise some people don't like us.

Thank you for getting my point :D

I would like to reiterate that I'm not not not supporting that idiot who put up signs in his yard.... clearly the guy is just too stupid to figure out a better way to handle the situation.

The way I see it is... the guy (Alan) is legal to grow in his State.... I don't think there is any height restriction on plants so tough titties if it grows taller then a fence. HOWEVER... if the odor is strong and wafting through the neighborhood then Alan should be respectful and put up a greenhouse with carbon filters to contain/control the odor. I don't see how a greenhouse would be any more conspicuous then a bunch of plants visible over the top of the fence.

It's sad that a little common courtesy on both sides wasn't used.... no wonder California is so fucking over-regulated...... two knuckleheads can't even behave appropriately on their own in a situation that should be a no-brainer.

i think people worry way too much about what their neighbors do... thats why you buy property, and then put up a fence.. to do what the hell you want with it... the chicken example though i can surely identify with, having grown up raising chickens, and those lil fuckers stink to high heaven... but this is california we are talking about, where your neighbors cigarette smoke can be considered offensive... joe needs some real problems in life and he wouldnt nitpick about a little smell..... one reason i like living in the country, people leave you alone... my neighbor doesnt mess with me about what i decide to do on my property; and its his grandmother's house... hell, the only time he has stepped foot over here, was once when i had a fire going in the backyard with no car in the driveway... and it was only because he thought the house may have been on fire....

I live in Illinios, in the spring the stink of lime on the soybean fields is enough to send me into fits of coughing. Maybe the farmers should be banned from using lime. Corn fields smell really bad too. Especially in the hot summer when it rains, you can't avoid the stench of wet corn. Maybe we should make a ban on growing corn too?

If your neighbor wants to grow weed on their own property, it's not really your business. You own your home, that is your buisness, if you don't like what your neighbors are growing you could always move out to the fresh country air. I recommend Illinois, where the stink of lime and corn is 6 months out of the year. I'd much prefer the smell of marijuana plants that the stink in the air right now.

Lets not forget what all that bean and corn dust does to people with allergies or asthma. I don't see the farmers paying the medical bills of those people.

Lots of things have a stong smell, trying to say it's only pot is stupid.
