At long last... 25+ years I have been waiting for this! While I do kind of frown on the 5 plant limit, I'm none the less stoked to finally be able to LEGALLY grow! I currently have several plants in the seedling\early veg stage and would love to become a part of this community to get tips and feedback.

Any other new growers out there in The Land of Lincoln?

I have one DWC in a home made rig running GH nutes at 1/3 strength and one soil plant. Unfortunately I was broke when I was gifted this beauty and didn't have the cash for decent soil. Currently vegging on a 24/0 schedule

I have several seedlings in the pipe. 2 are going into DWC's and one into straight Coco Loco.

When I have enough posts to add pics I'll do so.

Lived here all 42 years of my life... There are some things that I don't like, but I'm definitely a "hometown" kinda' guy. My grandparents live next door and my parents live across the back yard. "Disherville" we call it!

Best advice i can give is for you to find your own method reading others journals and looking at threads about problems people have been facing.
As for yeilds there are many variations to take into account, strain/set up ect.
As for me i like led's , autos and coco to get a nice crop but some people go all out.
If you get a journal going everyone will chip in with all the knowledge they have to help you along.

Thanks man... I grown several crops of "shrooms" over the years, but those were easy to hide in a closet. I've wanted to grow since I was 15... Now that I have my card I don't have to worry about "Supercops" coming and raiding me. I am a fairly established union worker and couldn't risk a charge for "manufacturing" or whatever else nonsense they would throw at me. So pleased to be alive to see this change happen.

I'm in Illinois, a legal med patient and I'm doing 4 outdoor and 1 auto indoor. I'm doing the auto just because I'm testing out my new indoor room before i move indoors after my outdoor harvest. I've grown outdoors in Illinois before and I got giant yields. I'm hoping to get at least two pounds off of each plant. That should last me till next Harvest. Plus I'm going to do autoflowers all winter. I start my autoflowers about 3 weeks before my other ones are done. That way they should stay below 5 in. If not then I transplant and bury the stem a bit in a 1 gallon pot to keep them below 5 in till I can Harvest. If everything goes right I can get 2 maybe three Harvest before I go back outside in the spring. While my outside plants are going I should be able to get 2 or 3 Harvest of Autoflower. I know it's only one plant but I can Harvest a lot sooner. They're under LEDs so I'm not worried about the electric bill. People keep talking about how horrible the weather conditions are here in Illinois but I've never really had a problem. There's been a couple times where I've had to throw a blanket over my plants in mid-october for a day or two because of Frost but you can only grow 5 plants so it's not that hard to cover them. You can throw a tarp over them if it gets too rainy. I keep them low. I start low stress training as soon as possible. I bend the plant back to the north and then spread all the branches out. I stake them down, then do a wire cage halfway around, bamboo between and tie them to the cage if I have to. I tie the big Leafs back so they don't block the insides. IMO I think it's crazy to grow indoors in the summertime in Illinois if you can legally grow outdoors and you have the space and approval. Outdoor yields are insanely larger then indoor.

Too much stuff happened at home since my last post @rollitup, and I finally had a chance to check this forum. How is your growth so far?
I am with you on only allow for 5 plants, but it's better than many other states that are not legal yet. Just have to grow larger and better to get high yield! LOL

My setup (still tweaking) is working ok. But need some adjustment, so I am currently looking for a way to expand the size of the grow area. It's just too tight and I feel suffocated when I am working on plants.

In Illinois 5 you can have five plants over 5 inches tall. If you get caught it's a civil penalty of $200. You can legally grow 5 plants over 5 inches tall if you have a medical marijuana card.

outdoor is not officially allowed at all, medical or not. Medical is mandated to be indoors in a locked room that only the card holder has the key to, with no windows able to see any part of your grow.

I've looked all over the internet and no where does it say it has to be indoors. I've looked at the law and it says it has to be in an enclosed locked space. My yard is enclosed by a fence and my fence is locked with a padlock. It says it has to be out of ordinary public View. Nobody can see through my fence I have it all solid slats with privacy netting on the inside. The only way somebody could see through my fence would be to look over my six foot tall fence which would not be ordinary public View. It says it has to be secured, I have security cameras on my garden and my gate is locked . No where it says anything about windows. It does not specify anywhere between indoor and outdoor plants with your 5 plant limit. It doesn't say 5 outdoor plants is against the law. All it says is you can grow up to five plants and it's a $200 civil penalty if you don't have a medical marijuana license. 6 plants is a felony. It doesn't specify a difference between indoor and outdoor plants anywhere. It doesn't say in any laws that 1 2 3 or 5 outdoor plants is breaking any type of law. I'm not trying to argue with anybody but I'm just reading plain plain text.

I found this in the law. It says "other enclosed area." But then it says

So.... It says other enclosed area but then it defines the areas into 2 groups, residential building and then structures. I definitely would not fall into the first category. My garden has a 6' tall fence that you can't see through. I have padlocks and security camera. The neighbors are at least 75' away. I don't think my backyard can be considered a "structure" or is the fence my structure? I don't think so. I think I'm going to build a greenhouse just to be safe. Which i don't want to do. I still cannot find what the penalty is for growing plants Outdoors. I also think it's pretty stupid if they make it to where you have to have a greenhouse or an indoor grow. Most of the medical marijuana patients I know are on a fixed income and can't afford the extra cost of making a grow room and maintaining a grow room or spending $1,000 on a fucking Greenhouse. What do you think from what you just read?

Google any news that covered the law in-depth and they all either say specifically any windows should be blocked out or the grow hidden away from view from them. The bill itself clearly implies that NO ONE should be able to see your grow. Hence the enclosed building you live in stipulation, they do mention greenhouse/structure but they also say you need indoor plumbing in it and must live in it so that kinda throws that out the window. Greenhouses and any structure not connected to your house or where/what-ever it is you're living in can't be used to legally grow.

The whole Plumbing thing is just for the house on the premises

it clearly says that the greenhouse must lay on the same plot of land as the residence with the plumbing that you live in. You don't have to live in the greenhouse lol. And It really isn't clear that no one can see it. It says out of ordinary public View.which in my understanding would be taking a ladder and looking over my fence or peeking into a window or like the other guy said using binoculars or a drone. I'm going to put up a greenhouse just to be safe. I still would like to know where the law is that says what I would be charged with if I grow under 5 plants Outdoors, even if I didn't have the medical card. The only laws I can find say in you have 5 plants or under, over 5 in it's only a civil penalty. Another question would be do they just fine you two hundred bucks and let you keep growing or do they confiscate your weed?

My understanding is 5 plants anywhere without a card is a fine, guaranteed they're gonna confiscate the plants.

No idea on what happens if medical card outside would be anything. Would imagine they could still confiscate but most likely would just tell you to move them inside or, as you keep saying a greenhouse(that's still not what I'm reading in the bill), if its an issue. Would only be an issue if someone reports you.

And from what I can see at NORML, 6 plants or more for anyone, card holder or not is a felony.
