Anyone ever tried this to reduce stretch in flower??

Lots of strains are prone to throwing nanners. But some are bomb, and worth the hassle. I'm with ya though that I would rather grow non nanner prone strains, but it's hard for me to give up on Chem 91 and Sunset Sherbert yet.

Oh, and when I see nanners, that's my sign to chop. Sometimes I chop really early, but the wife loves that early shit so it's all good. So do I actually when I want something more energetic.
I like an earlier harvest also... Some strains will throw a few nanners and they're 100% sterile. Some of the Chems do this as well as some diesels I've ran.

Ok, so I over vegged BIG TIME! I always seem to have that issue, almost everytime, every run. I got caught up in some things and have just been super busy.

So basically I have some nice thick bushes... Have done multiple topping and LST'ing along the way. They're compact, but very large for my headspace if that makes any sense...

My good buddy, which some of you may know in the breeding industry (AK Bean Brains) gave me some advice which I have never attempted before... But the dude is a true OG, very intelligent and has been growing weed for decades! He said this is a method they used to use way way back in the day when growing in the "trailer parks" in Alaska back when they did not have any headspace... I guess you can vision this, short ceilings in an old ass mobile home. I think he said they had 7ft total. Well, I have 6ft total and have been rocking my new underground grow op for 4 years now.... been growing for 18 and grew in a mobile home previously before I moved and got this new addition. So I am pretty accustomed to working with low ceilings.

Anyway, on to the point... He basically said this saved his ass many of times when it came to the stretch... He says that you can start them for 12-14 days on a (10-ON/14OFF) light cycle and once you get to 12-14 days, switch to 12/12 as normal. He said it would dramatically reduce stretch due to kicking the plants into flower much faster than normal. Anyone ever tried this before??? If so, what was your experience?

I am also thinking about throwing a net over top of them as well...

Also, there are more plants than seen in the photos... I have the other half of the room is partially shown in this pic, but lights are as high as they can go... Concrete ceilings...

Makes sense less hours means less light so less growth. I would just heavily defoliate when they are almost the height you want that should slow them down alot

My last run was over vegged a bit also, I kept temps synchronized 75 in the day, 76 in the night... Seemed to help a ton! The only bad thing this time, is I dropped my fucking mini split remote in the reservoir today on accident and my AC is stuck on 75° and for whatever reason, it stays between 74-76 lights on, and drops to 69-72 lights off... that is with the thermostat set on 75°.... I need to go ahead and flip asap, probably in the morning. Have the remote sitting in a bag of rice, hopefully it will help... it always comes thru with phones lol. If not, gonna be a week before I can get another one via USPS.
If you dropped that into a nute solution I hope you rinsed it out with RO water to get the salts out. Most of those remotes will be fine if soaked in fresh water then dried out but a salt sol'n can kill them.

Odd that you have no manual control for the AC. I bought a 16" oscillating wall mount fan that has a remote but it sux. I want it running during their day along with a 12" but keep the 16" on the light timer so it's off in the dark and just the 12" going. F'er won't come on on it's own if power is interrupted. I opened it up and soldered a jumper between the connections on the on switch but it won't work at all if I jump the oscillating switch. I need a fan in the mancave so will mount it in here and find a manual fan for the room. The fan would run with the jumper but I'd have to go down to push the button on the fan or the remote to engage the oscillator every day.

Massive lightning storm going on right now. Quite the light show and now the rain.

:peace:

I had a nice OG#18 that threw a few 'nanners way down low about 3 weeks into flower and if you picked them off that was it. Really liked that strain and crossed with Blueberry but haven't grown any of those out yet. On my list of a couple dozen to get going someday. This winter is going to be devoted to making fem seeds of some strains I want to preserve. I want lots of fem autos for outdoors next year. Lots of fem regs too.

I can give you a tip. Don't drop your shit in water, lol.
I wish they made more things water proof! It's not hard to do but of course they want stuff to break now days.

Remember when refrigerators were built like tanks? After 25 years they were just getting broke in lol. My grandparents had an old one that had the freezer on the bottom and a little pedal that would kick that door open for you. They bought it new in the early 1960's. Before they had the "frost free" defrost cycle lol. That damn thing was still running good over 40 years later when it had outlived both of them. I can't remember how many times I watched my grandma defrost that freezer.

Yes, the old school fridges, I know exactly what you're talking about. The sad reality of it all is, nothing is made like it used to be, even food does not taste the same anymore, like it did when I was younger, the exact same things, exact same brands.

A good example I can think of would be phone chargers, damn! Seems they don't last 2 weeks (if that) and they're already shorted out! They just want you to keep buying new ones because they know >Phone = Life< nowadays. Everyone has them and now social media is everyone's "second life"..... Phone chargers used to last for years!

Man, it's sad what the World is coming to.

Wasn't apple caught building into their smart phones, some firmware that just slowed them down after like a year, so people would end up buying the new one thinking it was bit locked or old and slow when in reality this slow down was just a built in "feature".

Oh and don't get me started on the whole right to repair situation. Now there are laws allowing a farm equipment manufacturer for example to prohibit anyone from servicing the equipment other than the manufacturer. So basically a farmer can't just buy a part and fix his combine, he has to get an authorized service rep, not just the mechanic down the street either.

I wouldn't doubt it for a minute. I got Android and switching my $40/mth plan to pay as you go now that the phone is paid off. For all I use it it's not worth $40.Was $55 when I was paying off the phone. Not a scratch on it after 2 1/2 years.

Battery swelled up and cracked the armor case I have on it. New and better one off Amazon for $30.

Exactly man. Quality is seriously getting worse, except for the quality LED lights, lol. Toys were once made of metal. Remember the old Coleman coolers, before they went all plastic? Snow sleds were also made of wood and had metal rails. Now it's all plastic shit.

The farmers around here are boycotting John Deere as they are pulling that crap. And they now build everything overseas. The software is proprietary and only their techs can fix it. Middle of harvest and they might have to wait days for service. Lot of guys are hitting the auctions and buying older equipment and fixing it up. They all have big shops to work in.

Like Chevy fucking off to Mexico. Never buying Chevy again.

Yes, something along those lines. I remember reading an article about this before that was on my facebook newsfeed! Such bs, I can't stand apple! My wife loves them, I hate them. I am an android man haha... I aggravate the shit out of her all the time when shes complaining of something malfunctioning or lagging... "yup, that's that wonderful apple for you! Oh, and your speakers suck!, get a galaxy!"... lol.

Seems apple charges for absolutely EVERYTHING! The phones are also very fragile and damage prone imo. I'm not going to shell over my hard earned money to some corrupt money mongering crooks... This is just my opinion, however.

Yup, I have experienced this also to some degree with Stihl! Best small equipment company on the planet in my opinion and now it's like they have to "fix" everything themselves with their "special" little tools! Luckily, I have friend that has some contracts with Stihl and they can fish me in some of those special tools hehehe.... Really helps save money, because who the hell can drive 11 miles to town when your having issues you cannot fix at home or on the job? Even possible multiple trips in a single day, if you have a big job and a deadline you need to finish.... oh and you're paying for it, when you know it's an easy fix if you just had the special tools and then, you have to catch them when they are open, if not your just screwed.... Living in a small town out in the mountains with the worst economy in the US of A? It really is pathetic and I see that more companies are picking up this tactic. Smh....

Agree! That cooler got me to thinking of the current models of the Stanley and Thermos mugs.... Holy shit do they suck now! Yeah, claims to be the same classic models and some are "improved", improved my ass.... They can't keep Joe hot for no longer than a few hours, if that. I still have an old school Stanley thermos/mug that my grandmother got me in the 90's and in 24 hours it is just as hot as it was when you first poured it in!

Then, my grandmother (before she passed), had her Stanley that was from the late 80s and it was even better!
