Everywhere the marijuana plant grows a leaf, it also starts a new branch. Every new leaf of every new branch will also start its own new branch.

No its just the result of how a marijuana plant grows. Everywhere there is a leaf, there will be a branch.

what do you mean by close nodes? i wanna keep it short cause i'm in a 2x2 tent

The spacing between leaf/branches vertically on the stem. Close is good rather than some of the spindly plants you see with 6 inches between. So if you wanted it short you accomplished that goal.
