Maximizing yield outdoors is giving them lots of sun and space and keeping them healthy. If you put them where they get lots of sun and soil, mother nature will do the hard work for you. Its not indoor where you are light limited.

Topping is a great way to boost yield and bush out the plants.

topping evey bud site? or just the main stem?

The key to getting massive yields outdoors is
Start them indoors early... around feb is a good time.
Top and fim and lst the plant while it's still inside to get as many main tops as possible.
Transplant outdoors around mid may and put them in as much amazing soil as possible. (100 gallons or more)

Continue to train them with lst and topping and make sure you add lots of support to prevent the plant from breaking in wind and storms.
With that said you will and can get pounds.
As of right now topping fimming and lst will help you achieve a good harvest.
