Flushing

Thing is, they've watched other Youtube videos, and because those Youtubers were "master growers", so when they compare their plants to the other Youtuber's plants, they then think they're a "master grower" as well.

Essentially what I'm saying here is that shit rolls downhill.
My fave growers on youtube are Mr canuk and Caligreen. Both grow organically and my next grow will be done as such. I just saw if you grow with miracle gro that a good flush is needed so you dont have left over nutes in your bud that taste nasty

I prefer actual studies as opposed to what some Youtube "master grower" says. For example, here's one:

That study confirms how I've been growing for years. Flushing provides no benefit, at the same time as reducing the amount of nutrients for uptake at the end of flower, right when they are in full blown bulk-up mode.

You're right @spek9, its a rough guideline, its not the Quran, or ancient text set in stone. Think for yourself, take parts of the advice and learn.

Caligreen goes into all the science behind it.. How microbes feed on the organic matter in your soil and how they wait for other microbes to eat them and discard the waste as a usable nutrient to the plant through the roots.

This is why flushing will always be a debated technique between growers.

My organic soil mix im going to make is FFOF base, with compost, earthworm castings, and 4-4-4 & 3-9-4 nutes from Dr. Earth. mixed with some perlite. I don't plan on flushing those, just letting the plants do their thing. Every watering will have Filtered water and Liquid fish & kelp with molasses

That screenshot of those nasty crispy fried plants I posted was from a Canuk video. You actually use that guys grows as a guide on growing cannabis? He can't keep a plant healthy. The sad thing about it is he's got a ton of subscribers that think his crispy fried plants are the way plants should be at harvest. No wonder people are commenting on how nice some nasty plants people post look. They don't know what a properly grown plant should look like.

Dude literally just think about it for one minute, do you actually think you can “flush” the buds out? They aren’t a sponge, and question would be where do these flushed nutrients go? Like back down through the roots into your runoff? Or maybe these salts just evapotranspire into the air? My point is always flush with tiger blood and magic

Stop watching YouTube videos about cannabis and start doing some reading on actual botany and growing. If you are interested in organics, there is a good book called teaming with microbes that explains many things about the process of organic growing. The more you learn about plant functions and biology the more you will realize how many pointless broscience ideas many pot growers have.

Flushing scientifically does nothing beneficial for the plant. It stresses the root system and starves the plant of nutrients it needs while growing.

Your plant still has multiple weeks to grow. If it’s about 50% white hairs then you have 3ish+ weeks left. It too early to even be thinking about flushing anyways.

Some people will feed with plain water the last few weeks which is different from flushing. If you want to feed regularly with plain water at the end of a plants life you can save a couple dollars on nutrients the last 2 weeks but you still shouldn’t do that until the plant is done growing new buds(after all 90% or more of the stigma have changed color and start to shrink towards the buds.)

My experience has been different than yours. The only way the debate subsides is if one party stops arguing. I'm doing so now ;)
See that's what I was wondering im using overdrive for the first time and it's designed for the last 2 weeks..why do a 2 week flush, id be just pissing money away

Youtube is the worst place to learn about growing cannabis. Ever notice how many videos show plants with crispy fried leaves at harvest. Any hack can post videos. And most everything else is an infomercial pushing some product. Many of those guys are sponsored to push products.

Cannabis is a plant and nothing special. It doesn't require all this cannabis bro-science. You'd be better off learning gardening basics and basic plant science than watching some dude on youtube using fancy overpriced products to grow overfed nasty looking plants.

I took a peak at one of those youtube hacks that a bunch of people were talking about as if he was some kind of growing guru. He's nothing more than a hack that can't grow worth a crap. Here's a screenshot from one of his videos. And some people think he's a good grower.

Think I know who you're talking about. Really fucking annoying voice. I don't know whether he can grow or not, but, his discount codes saved me a bunch of money so I thank him for that

I had to mute the sound immediately. I just looked at a video because people kept talking about the guy. I wasn't impressed. I skimmed through a couple other of his videos and saw the same crappy looking crispy fried plants. And that guy has over 300k subscribers. No wonder there's so much bad information and crappy growers.

It's not a debate. Plants don't need NPK the week before harvest, it builds up, kills flavor, kills shelf life, kills the ability to cure makes the bud taste like shit
Why water them then either. Just don’t touch it for the last two weeks. That way it thinks you forgot about it!!! Once the trichomes think you’re gone they all come running out to play! :bigjoint:
