Pots Dry Out Too Slow

Hi Helpful people!

I dont really know what I'm at but have 5 autos growing in batmix. I planted the seeds straight into the final pot but had a ball of basic compost in the middle to get them started. Dont think this is relevant to my issue though.

I planted at different times, 3 all in door at the same time and two in the greenhouse. One from the greenhouse was moved indoors at about week 8. I'm at the end of week eleven with her but there ain't too much bud. Had to supercrop her to fit in. Have given up on this one. Leaves started turning yellow once flowering and it's been heading downhill since:

It looks better than it is in the pic, buds have no substance.

I have higher Hope's for the second one in the greenhouse. I LST'd her and so far so good. However all the plants seem to take forever to dry out. I can leave it more than a week between each watering and even then feel I could leave it go another bit. Surely this ain't right? They are growing well but I worry they will have the same fate as the first one as that was the same re drying out. Pots all have drainage, the indoor ones have some additional side holes. Thanks, Ok for the small ones I guess but the big one should surely be lapping it up at this stage? Looks healthy I think but I'm sure there are problems ahead. If it's not drinking it's not feeding I assume.

Can't argue with you there. Dont really want to go messing with them but I have already screwed up the first plant and dont want another disaster. Hmm, thanks. I'll sleep on it.

That big one is also in a very big pot.... That pot holds what, a gallon of water? Thats a lot of water for a plant to drink. Its really not that big of a plant.

Ok, encouraging. Not too sure of the pot size embarrassingly but when I water it it's about 3 or 4 litres before I get run off alright.

I keep reading about people watering every two or three days. I'm on a week so was worried but hopefully unnecessarily. So you wouldn't worry about that rate so? Side view for better perspective.

If that pot is holding 4l of water, i would expect that plant to take 5-7 days to drink it all. Sounds like your dirt holds a lot of water. Add perlite next time

Music to my ears JoeBlow thanks. And as you mention it, I did add a couple of handfuls of perlite to the batmix for the three small ones so hopefully all is well.

Theres nothing like a few reassuring answers in a grow forum to help you sleep better. Thanks!

no problem. You can also mix in a light dirt like roots organic that has a lot of coco in it, helps with drainage.

I bought pots from Home Depot. The cut holes all around. Lined it up with landscape fabric. I water all plants every 2 days! its been awesome!! My guess would be, your plants aren't drinking a lot of water because they're not getting enough energy to full photosynthesis. Like, it's not recieving a full day of light. Is it just sitting next to the window? You got a fan nearby?

Duly noted for next time round. Maybe the bat mix is a bit heavy on it's own. Also I'm beginning to think that a lot of my misconceptions are due to the fact that I have planted straight into the final pots so they are big relative to the plants for the moment and therefore take longer to dry out. Thanks again.

Well that looks a bit more like it instead af the measly holes I have drilled. All taken on board and in the bank for next time. Thanks for the tip.
