Should i be giving seeds that haven’t grown soil light ?

Very little. As I said, I use a 23W CFL light hanging above my seeded pots.

I put my seeds into a 1/2" hole in my medium, cover the hole, put a few ounces of water in the centre of the pot, put the pots under a 23w CFL, and wait 2-3 days and the plants will grow out of the medium.

Ok thank you this is my first time growing do you usually germinate them first or simply place them into the soil ?

I used to germinate my seeds using paper towel method, but haven't in quite some time.

Seemed foolish to me when all seeds of my other fruit, vegetables and herbs go directly into medium. Cannabis seeds aren't special in this regard. Far less risk of damaging the sensitive tap root, and they grow out of the medium faster.

2-3 days germinating in paper towel, then another 2 days before it breaks the surface. Skip all of the extra stuff, and I have plants in 2-3 days.

My seedlings go under a 400W MH 2-3 days after they sprout out of the medium usually.

I just simply have no other light source. I stick them in the corner and on the ground. Low and away

The seed is still attached to the taproot should it be under the soil ?
