Leaves Drooping & Curling - DWC

Wassup RIU, I’m having a problem with a few of my 3 weeks old girls. I noticed my seedlings’ leaves is dropping down and curling a bit as you can see in the attachment. I am not worried if the old growth is curled but the new growth that’s coming out is looking droopy and curling down already.

I’m at a loss because I noticed this problem last week and it was dealt with appropriately by putting the top feeders on a timer to run for 15 mins every 2 hours. It did solve some of the droopiness however it still came back within days.
I just performed a res change yesterday and added bennies to deal with possible root rot because the same plant in the picture’s root has began to brown slightly. The ph yesterday after mixing the nutrients and bennies together was 6.6 and I added PH down to bring it down to 5.5 then this morning the PH climbed back to 6.6 and I added PH down again. I’m not sure if this is normal?



Any tips or advice you can give to help solve this problem will be appreciated!

Anytime your roots spiral together almost tangled like is a sign of root issue. Brew a compost tea if you want to save her before it gets worse.

Thank you for the quick reply, would using hydroguard suffice? I have added approx 20ml of it to both tanks which holds around 10 gallons each.

Hydrogaurd is great stuff. I use it every feeding. I still will brew some compost tea just to get a better foot hold of the bad bacteria thats taken over. You have to add more good bennies.

Yep I ran dwc and it was just too much for me. Since switch to coco and back loving the grind again! Check me out.

Update: I think Hydroguard did the trick, as roots have begun to show signs of whitening and new growth. However I think damage to this plant has been done As brown spots have started to appear on the damaged plant.

This picture was taken this morning.

This was taken during the evening - you can notice the rapid root growth in matter of hours.

You can notice the bottom leaves have started to get brown spots which won’t be a big deal since they will be pruned. Hopefully that was just an after effect of the root rotting.


Thank god the others are unaffected. I have decided to hold off the compost tea as I don’t have the resources for it at this moment (and I am unsure about introducing organic matter to the reservoirs) and the plant looks like it’s on the way to a speedy recovery especially with the growth.
