Seedlings in ocean forest?

Why do people use happy frog for seedlings, or mix happy frog and ocean forest? The only difference in the nutes that come in the soil is .15% less P.. is that really that much more beneficial to seedlings?

Trying to figure out what to start my seedlings in because ocean forest seems to burn and stunt them a little bit. Even with 20% perlite added.

i'd start in a peat plug, rapid rooter or root riot or anything like that, then into any of the soils you mentioned should be fine. they should outgrow it if it burns them a lil bit. otherwise you could add some promix or sunshine mix or other hydroponic media with the FF if you want.

Where did you get that information? Ocean Forest has more nitrogen. It has fish products and shellfish meal. Happy Frog doesn't have any of that but has humics and mycorrhizae.

Damn I'm blind. Right on the bag. I better put the bong down.

Regardless of those numbers FFOF has more nitrogen and is a hotter soil than Happy Frog. The ingredients of FFOF are higher in N than HF. I don't know how they are calculating those numbers but just from looking at the ingredients it's apparent that with the fish emulsion, crab and shrimp meal that the FFOF is going to be higher in N as those ingredients are high in N and none are included in the HF soil blend.

I'd start it out in something inert at first. A peat pod, rooter like said above. Once you see the roots coming out of the pod, drop it in whatever you decide to. Let the plant establish itself first then nute away(to a point)

If thats all you have it can be done. Ive done it plenty.

Obviously its not ideal, but can be done. Just dont overwater it.
