Man those look awesome. What kind of grow style do you use if you dont mind me asking?

Getting close to 4 weeks with these plants and excited to see the finish. Hopefully, with some luck, mine will frost up like yours..

Cheers, for a while now ive just been winging it , I had a batch of plants that were stuck in veg tents for far too long due to a few hitches and my own over enthusiasm buying beans a year ago. So last couple of crops have been a single plant in either a 3x3 or 2x4 beaten senseless to bend them to my will and fill the space best I could.

Will be getting back to my usual method of 4 plants topped a couple of times and super cropped soon.

I grow in coco with an automated watering , kind of recirculating cross with dtw with minimal run off. Just base nutrients.

Would have to attribute the frost to the lights and the strain , though im not sure how much of it is light or strain because ive only ever grown this strain under these lights and used these lights on this strain ;)
Got some under QBs now though just starting so I will be able to see which has the greater influence on frost, the highlights or the genetics.

Certainly not my skills though :D

Im sure yours will be shining like a diamond soon !

I'm a big believer in the genetics being the primary factor in frost/cannabinoid/terpene production. Some strains look just lightly-dusted with powder, some ooze and drip with heavy resin - all under the same light. This was grown under straight 3000k.

Hey Corey, are those QBs the QB288 V1 with Lumileds Luxeon 2835 HE diodes that you bought when they were cheap as chips ($29 U.S. dollars apiece)?

They are indeed. 6 of them in a 2x4x5. Will post some pics in the appropriate thread when they start developing .
Im doubly interested to see if there's a difference in finishing time because under the highlights the winter solstice seems to finish in 8 weeks without any stalling. Which I suspect is due the high cri . Time will tell. :bigjoint:

The strain in case anyone was wondering was bred by @Bakersfield , after I got rid of the males all the females were incredibly uniform in structure and finish time. I have a #1 and #2 , the 1 seems to have a slightly tighter internode structure.
One of the things I love about it apart from the fact its fire is they don't compete for light as much as some strains.
When I had an over crowded veg tent last year I was cutting back my wedding cake and gg4 constantly to try and maintain the internode length
eventually I ended up getting rid of most of them because they became too elongated. But the Winter solstice stayed tight

So was look over the plants after watering today and found a bud growing out of the middle of one the top fan leaves. This is a first for me, but wondering if you guys ever see this?

I think it's awesome though, even if just on one right now. One of the fans right next to that leaf has a little point coming out of it and is frosty as well, so maybe I'll get a few of these little leaf buds..

Sorry the pictures are horrible, couldn't get a good angle.

We will be doing some tests soon (in the next few weeks) comparing four different samples, all grown under High Lights. The difference will be one sample has been grown under High Red boards with the addition of CMH, one sample has been grown under High Red boards wth the addition of UVA/B reptile bulbs, and two samples have been grown under High Light UV boards (one will be a fresh sample, the other will be an older sample to see how cannabinoid content changes – or not – after six months of cure). All samples were grown in coco in similar weather using drain-to-waste, so it may not strictly be scientific, but it will be as close as we can get.
Did you post these results yet?
Also, I need to ask if there is still 10% off for RIU people?

Here's a link to the thread with the results:

Regarding the RIU discount, it still says a sale is going on at the top of Grow Lights Australia's webpage. The discount code Forum will still work for 10% off of non sale items such as Buddies. I think GLA said that the sale item (such as boards and board/heatsink combos) prices are slightly more than a 10% discount off regular prices.
