First toke in '73.......blonde hash.......remember all the colours hash came in the 70s and 80s?
I could buy a dime bag ($10) about a half ounce....$20 could buy you an ounce.....all mexican dirt weed.....needed
a double album folder to run the seeds out......sometimes seeds could total 1/4 the weight.....
Then came Columbian.....$20 for a quarter.....wow.....no more dirt weed....thank you God.
AAAhhhhhh the good ole days.
I started growing in 1990.....I remember cause the gulf war started during my first grow.
I was in Vancouver and I did the deal where the guy provided/taught me, he get half the proceeds for the first 3 grows
then i owned it lock stock and barrel. BC big bud, short indica, good producer.....it was good smoke, but more
important it made weight. $3500 a lb was not unheard of in the 90s.
Have to remember back then we triple beamed all our nuits dry.....usually used a tried tomato recipe.
Over the years we tweaked our nuits......life was good. At peak I had 5 houses with 100 per.
Got married to a good women, moved to Alberta in 97......only smoked occasionally....left the growing behind.
Fast forward to about 2003....
Made new friends (same wife) started to smoked more often because new friends did.
I started to really notice how cannabis was starting to change....different flavours, different highs, different everything.
This was really an eye opener....this stuff was nothing like the Big Bud......when you have to watch not to get too high...nice.
One of my friends at this time had Lupis. She was buying her bags from friends of her daughter, but this was hit and miss.
I asked if she wanted to start a garden at home......10 plants, she agreed......I started looking for clones.
Buddy helped me out.......he said it was Blueberry.....Im thinking this was about 2005ish. I kept one back for a momma.
This was not a Blueberry, but some sort of hybrid. It grew like a Dr Grinspoon, but much much fuller buds, but had huge calyx
the size of small marbles...almost like a bunch of grapes. When I smoked this, it was the strongest weed I had touched in my
over 30 years(then) of smoking. It was mind blowing.
Fast forward to now.....I am growing.....for the 4th grow in a row now a Hybrid. It has a hideous name, but it is absolutely the
best weed Ive smoked in my 47 years of smoking. It grows ok, but the weight is small, about half what i would expect growing
a high yielder.......BUT......the crystal is everywhere.....everywhere, even the big fan leaves have crystal. It makes the best weed and the
best honey oil......mind blowing.
So yes, as was asked, I have smoked in the 70s....
Yes, I have smoked many many different varieties......would guess many hundreds.
Yes, I have grown many years(since 1990) both commercially and for my own use (now).....MANY different strains.
IN MY OPINION.......over the almost 50 yrs Ive been smoking, growing and enjoying.....
Todays hybrids are far superior.
