Remove top fans to improve light?

So I have got some big fan leaves right under the top cola that are basically shading out the smaller colas. Is it wise to remove them? I don’t really have room in the tent to train the side branches horizontally. This is just a small experiment I have in a small tent, just trying to get a preview of an outdoor plant of same strain.E5650D82-1DD0-478E-923E-3FCD7E48B44C.jpeg7495D8F6-BFA2-4B99-86A7-66AE6A629CE1.jpeg

2 options from what i see. Cut some fan leaves in half or tuck them under. Fan leaves are solar panels for growth. some defoliate but never tried it.

Do Not Chop The Dominant fan leaves.....
Why not just LST the lowest bunch of branches. It will open up light exposure, and airflow.

Not enough room in the tent for LST. The plant is brushing up against the walls as it is. Like I said, this is just a little experiment and I’m not all that hung up on yield. Here’s what I ended up doing, I think it was probably the quickest and easiest way to expose those bud sites:

So what is the main detriment of cutting the fan leaves like I did? I’m not being snotty, just curious. This plant is an experiment anyway and I’m not too worried about whatever happens with it.

The main problem with chopping the bigger, healthy fan leaves is that those are your growth factors for come budding phase. If ya chop your fan leaves then basically your yeild will shit Nill..

So looking at what I pruned, how much will that reduce yields, roughly?

If your leaves were smashed up against the wall of your tent, removing some, was not a bad idea. Defoliation isn't going to make a plant push out bigger buds. What it will do, is allow the grower whose jamming 10 plants in a 5 plant space, the ability to get a harvest vs. it all being ruined by humidity issues, PM, Botrytus, etc. I'm sure you'll be ok with what you did. Good luck.
