Size of pot (12/12 seed)

Hi, i recently got a mini grow tent to try on growing indoors

I bought an 18 inch x 18 inch x 4ft tent and planted 2 of my fems in half gallon pots.

for my next grow i will be buying more pots and i was wondering if i should stick with half gallons (which i can fit 5 of in the tent) or switch to 1 gallon pots (which i can fit 4 of).

I will be running them all on 18/6 light cycle for one month and then 12/12 til harvest

Maybe try one 3 gallon? I bet it'd be easier to tend to once in flower than a lot of small guys. Fewer pots to try and get to with a buncha stalks in the way

So theres no way you should be vegging for 4 weeks with 4 or more plants in a tent that size ... Id veg for 1 week at most... I have 2 Motor City Fighters right now in 5"x5" planters (about .75 gallons) that I vegged for 2 weeks that wouldnt fit in your tent ...

Honestly if you wanna SOG in that little tent I'd run 6 - square 6"x6" planters at 12/12 from seed, and Id only run 1 to 2 strains so they grew similar heights ... and pick your strains wisely... also be aware the smaller the pot the more often you'll need to water

You likely would get more weed off 1 plant in a 3 gallon pot with a longer veg and some training to be honesy but SOGs are fun so I wouldnt fault you for trying

Id veg for 1 week at most... I have 2 Motor City Fighters right now in 5"x5" planters (about .75 gallons) that I vegged for 2 weeks that wouldnt fit in your tent ...

You must have some good genetics, mine are still this small after 3 weeks of veg from seed. I'm jelous

All my other seeds are regular, non feminised seeds so it would really suck if i spent weeks raising a plant only to find out it's a male and i would have no female to pollinate

Well remember the plant can double or triple in size once you flip to 12/12 ... are you doing a seed run your next grow? Because thats a little different... I thought you were going to be funding all fems again when I gave the advice above

Also, what are you using for a light in there?

Those don't look bad at all for 3 weeks... but besides light and water, generics always plays the biggest part in that. For example I got some Bubble Gum seeds from selfing an old female I got and every seed like their mama, will always hit 7 nodes in 18 or 19 days, then I got seeds from my old Kali Mist gal and not a one of those seeds will ever hit 5 nodes until week 5!

Yes i will be doing from seed next time, i would like to cut clones but i don't have anywhere to put the clones while these are still flowering.

I am using a 125w CFL light right now, i might get another 125w for the next run for a total of 250w

I meant are you going FOR seeds ... you mentioned wanting a female to pollinate so I was wondering if you were trying to make your own seeds ... otherwise you wouldn't want anything to pollinate

So honestly, if your not trying to make seeds ... with so little space, I'd just buy some more feminized seeds so you don't have to waste a bunch of time sexing plants ... there are several breeders that sell feminized seeds for very reasonable prices these days... or run the regs 12/12 from seed then after they show sex, pull the males, up pot the females and give them a couple more weeks to veg then flower again

Also, your plants look good for 3 weeks .. theyre a little small but look nice and healthy ... when I said I had 2 plants that wouldnt fit in your tent with a 2 week veg period I meant after they were done stretching in flower ... they were the size yours are now after 2 weeks then I flipped them ... now theyre 3ft tall

In most cases a one gallon pot if sufficient for a 12/12 from seed grow. New growers may want to go a bit larger though. Gives you more wiggle room for mistakes.

And as Gentleman mentioned. You can run 18/6 for the first couple of weeks from germination to improve initial growth. No matter what the light cycle is the plant will not begin to flower until it becomes sexually mature.

Yes i am trying to get some seeds on top of smokable bud because there is no seedbank in my country and it feels quite risky getting seeds through the border when i have a grow in progress.

If i understand correctly i should germinate two or three seed at a time, put them under 12/12 and check for males, if one's a male i'll put it in a half gallon pot until i can collect the pollen and put the female in a 3 gal.

So here's the thing I've learned about pollen recently... it gets stinking everywhere ... so unless you have a second tent somewhere to isolate the male its going to get to your girl before you officially collect ... but honestly, thats fine! And you can get PLENTY of seeds off a small plant.

I'd just do an open pollination run in your shoes ... just drop 4 plants (better odds of getting 1 of each sex) and let them do their thing ... the males will pollinate the females and you'll have enough seeds for years! After that you can focus on growing just tue females for as long as you want...at 12/12 from seed you should have your seeds in about 10-12 weeks for indicas, 12+ for sativas... just make sure you let the girls go long enough for the seeds to fully develop

And you'll still get some decent bud from the seeded girls ... it loses a little potency when it goes to seed (supposedly) but Ive smoked plenty of bud thats gone to seed and was actually still pretty good...
