I recently purchased and installed a HLG QB288 V2 RSpec DIY light set
I purchased the recommended driver, 320W Max
To Wall Power AC:
The setup works; as advertised the light is very intense. Am running 12/12 over 6 plants in hydro.
Issue 1: Heat
As the kit nor the driver came with an AC power cord to the wall OR the wires for the DC lights-driver. I sacrificed an extension cord for DC side and because I had the extra length located the driver outside the 4x4 tent; As noted I had pre-emptively purchased a heavy duty "replacement" cord with ground for driver to wall.
I was very surprised at how hot the driver gets. I put it on a ceramic plate rather than leave it on the wood shelf. For context I can put my hand on it for just a few seconds. Probably not hot enough to burst into flames, but still...
>Is this normal?
>Might the driver be cranked too high?
Note the lights can go to 350W, The driver rates at 320W and the wiring I used should be capable at both the DC and AC sides. I have it plugged into a normal 120v/20amp wall plug.
Issue 2: Caveat Emptor
As a heads up this set is sparse and only included the screws to attach the boards to the heat sink. No wires, spacer feet, hangers, or wire.
Its a great product but was left me scrambling to get it operational.
Always good to know what is in the box
Thank you for any input to the heat issue.
