So just for shits and giggles, I’ve decided to try my own method of LST — or at least, one I haven’t seen tried. Instead of tying the plants down, I’ve just placed the cloth pots on their side. Once the stem hardens off to the point it won’t change position, I’ll start rolling the pots so the plant stem curls. Only once I’m done with veg and ready to flower will I set the pots right side up. Pretty smart or pretty dumb?

I had a plant blow over once, I left it about a month rolling around on the deck, it eventually got stuck and quit rolling. Anyways, I was staring at it one day, smoking, thinking, why not just grow a 2ft plant, tip it over and let it grow. Anyways it works, just put something under it to prevent a flat spot when it’s big.

LMAO. That's how I used to bonsai plants for outdoor stealth bushes. Grow to about 3'. Take it outside and bury it upright. Remove all leaves and branches on the bottom side of stem. Top about 18" from desired max height and maintain until flower. Multiple uniform colas. You got the idea. Play with it.

And also i dont think its smart or dumb so i cant really vote on that. One thought that comes to mind though, if the "top" of the plant is always growing toward the light, it will likely be dominant and you wont get as even of a canopy as if you topped it. And as you rotate it the small branches might not go the directions you want them to. But you dont know till you try. The concept is sound, just have to toy with it and see what happens. Its an experiment which is what the white lab coat types do for a living so i guess its super smart.

Just vote smart then, LOL. Also, can we start referring to this as the Weedstein method?

I've had the idea. I just think watering would be a pain, and preventing soil from spilling is something I didnt want to think hard about.

Sounds cool tho. Turn the pot 90 degrees every so often to create a circle
That requires total commitment and precise rotation at proper intervals. Otherwise you get a hand drawn circle from a 5 year old. Been there. Not pretty.

It actually hasn’t been that big a deal with the soil and the watering. I just really carefully set it upright to water, let it settle, then really carefully set it back on its side.

A plastic lid cut to pot dia with a slit and hole larger than the stalk works. Just use cheap landscape staples to hold it in place.

Sounds fun to me. I'd tie down the stalk to the side of the pot, and then turn it and keep tying the top to the side when it grows out. And so on, until it made a nice circle. They can be trained all kind of ways. I've seen spiral weed plants before. I say go for it. I'll be watching.

I saw a pic of one of those last week. Was cool to see someone take the time.

I want to see someone grow a plant 2 feet vertically, 1.5 feet horizontally, and then 3 feet vertically. Have maybe 10 plants exactly like that, chop em, and then tie them together to make a chair. Or just get a tree and train it, so you'd have a shaded chair

Youd spend a lifetime training a tree into a chair but man the satisfaction.......
