2 Tents 2 Fans 1 Vent

I have two grow tents with a window in between them. One tent is a 4x8 with a 6 inch exhaust fan and the other is a 4x4 with a 4 inch exhaust fan.

I bought a window vent kit but it only has a 4 inch port.

Is it okay to connect both exhaust fans to a Y at the vent? And will using a 4 inch vent essentially be reducing the output of my 6 inch fan? I've never been able to vent outside yet so I'm not sure if I would need to run it at 100%.

Try it.

All you need look at is CFM movement which will be affected. Having a fan pull before your Y at the window is bonus because ductwork can cause heat to stay in the room.
With snips you can cut tin ductwork to tape up your own reducers or buy some to make it work.
I'm actually rebuilding my exhaust setup tomorrow to have veg tent and AC exhaust together, using 3/4" Durofoam over the window screen with a window fan (dual 7") slotted in then with more foam will make a box with two holes in the sides to intake my air-cooled lights and the AC. Also flower tent exhausts out in the top part of foam board in the window. In all I use a 4" duct fan, a 6" duct fan, 4" duct, 5" duct 6" duct and 8" duct at different spots.

This thread is entirely not what I envisioned from the title.
I know right. I stared thinking about 3 Girls, 2 Cups, 6 Cans of whipped cream.......

For the love of god do not tape your exhaust together. It need to be securely fastened together with screws or clamps. I have seen so many people COOK their tent because their fucking tape fell apart. Get the right shit.

As for an answer to the original question. If your running the fans at 50% or so, you should be ok reducing to 4'' but you will have to play with it and find out. Doesnt hurt to try and see what happens. One thing I want you to be aware of though, any air you push out of a house must be replaced. That means you will have outdoor air coming in through every little air leak around every window, door, etc. If its 90 degrees outside and you are pushing 85 degree air outside, your not doing yourself any favors. And I dont know what humidity is like where you live, but where I'm at, youd be a fool to draw outside air in 75% of the time. If you have central air, your better off putting a booster fan on your register to get more cooled air in the room. AC Infinity sells them in all different sizes. Or you could rig something up. Or put a window AC unit in the room to really control temps.

Yea he has to exhaust dude.
Cook tents? You see people cook their tents with stupid waste of money LED builds? Ducts are cool to the touch and I get is 35ish celsius directly under my air cooled 600 watt HPS/MH. Just saying I know you can make your own reducers and just tape it with duct metal tape.
But he is better having another fan pulling at his Y joint.

Ive seen those tape joints fall apart and yes, cook the tent. Just buy the right equipment and do it right.
