My clones are tiny

How big do clones actually have to be before you take them? on some of my plants they are really tiny like seedlings at most i'm not sure how im going to get a clone off of it before i start flowering. I'm about 5 weeks in and about a foot and a half tall. Now and im not sure what im going to do.

From my personal experience I would suggest topping the plant as early as is reasonable. Doing so focuses growth on more shoots and thicker stems. Make sure the plant is actually big enough to have other stuff to grow though.

My mothers were growing very tall and when I finally topped them they split and did their 2 big shoots, and the lower node beefed up as well and caught up to the canopy. After a second pass Now I have a more manicured plant with 8 nice shoots producing more clones than I know what to do with.

You can take some tiny clones, but 4-6inches seems to be the norm.

make sure they have atleast two nodes on the top of the shoot and then go down two more nodes right below them cut it and pull off the lower two nodes. make sure you take off some skin with those nodes down to the bottom of the cutting but dont give it time to get air up into the stem

id also say 4 to 6 inches but no less

I take clones anywhere from 2 inches to 10 inches. the bigger ones take a bit less time to veg so its faster to get a harvest, but I only save about a week -10 days as the plants grow so fast its crazy. 3 weeks is all the veg I need to have 2 foot tall plants from 4' cuttings. Don't worry.

When you say topping the plant you mean taking a clones from the main branch making plant shorter? That will make the other shoots grow bigger?

you can still take clones into flowering. Flower the plant and after the stretch is over take the clones, they will not have to reveg.

So... you can just have one light on flower and keep cycling new plants? Let me get this right. I take a shoot and make a clone when the plant is at full height in flower? Can I just take the clone strip the bottom put some rooting gel on it, put it in soil and water normally? Then the clone is pretty much a full vegged plant thats just starting flowering? It will do the stretch and become a full plant w/o ever vegging again? am I correct?

the instructions on how to clone are explained in the grow faq, top left. I was suggesting you wait until after the stretch, which occurs during the first two weeks of flowering, to take your clones because it sounds like your plants are too small to take clones Once your clone is rooted you can veg it or flower it with no veg time. Does that answer your question?

Ya I was just told if you take clones from flower state and bring back to veg it weakens the strain.

No it doesn't weaken the strain at all. Two weeks into flowering the plant begins to bud any time before that the clone won't need to reveg beacuse it hasn't began to bud...

during the first two weeks of flower they will show they're sex with preflowers, but won't start to aggresively bud until after the stretch
