Jerry Falwell Jr., the president of Liberty University, has agreed to take an "indefinite leave of absence," according to a statement Friday from the evangelical Christian university.
The leave of absence is effective immediately, the statement said. The school's board of trustees made the request of Falwell. The board of trustees did not provide a reason for Falwell's leave in its statement.
CNN has reached out to Falwell for comment.

Florida's Covid-19 cases in children have increased 137% in past month
Across the country, the total number of Covid-19 cases among children rose from 179,990 on July 9 to more than 380,000 on August 6 -- an increase of about 90% -- according to a report published Monday by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Children's Hospital Association.

My ex part time maintenance man is back doing a small contract job for us. Just heard his son, DIL and all the grandkids have it. Luckily he wasn't on the crew working for us. We are a small town, and I know 4 or 5 folks who have died, and dozens who have it.

While not related to school, my county's most famous grower died of the Covid this week. He was about 70 years old.

My daughter will be doing online learning. I already have to fight my ex in keeping her safe in an apartment building and not going out a lot. Shit already gives me anxiety. I have them Thursday night to Sunday night. Don’t need no covid from the week.

Several of the first U.S. schools to reopen their classrooms are already experiencing covid-19 outbreaks. The news is particularly grim in Georgia, where Gov. Brian Kemp (R) declined to issue an order requiring masks in schools. One district there has been forced to quarantine nearly 1,000 students and staff.
Every time our politicians ignore medical experts, they kill more people and set the development of this nation back. It's infuriating.

Not all areas have gone brain dead. Schools in my area won't open their classrooms this fall. It's all online for now. Sucks for me. My kids hate it and hate me when I become the online hallway monitor and catch them outside of their classes.

As the backpacker said to his buddy when they saw the bear running at them: "I don't need to outrun the bear, I just have to outrun you."

We failed as a nation to contain and manage this virus. Now is when I need to focus down and keep my kids' development on track so that they can compete when their day comes. Online education isn't great but it's what we have. I didn't want this. I want our society to provide a good education to all but I am defeated by right wing intransigence on doing the simplest of things to prevent the virus's spread. So now, it's up to me to make sure my kids are able to run ahead of the pack. I just hope they don't hate me when it's all over. I'm terrible at teaching. Need help.

These people are who I'm going through:

I'm enrolled in a class for parents so that I can help my kids get through this.
