Does guano really "mango", or sweeten buds?

Sniff....sniff.....I smell the beginning of a bro science myth. So glad I could be here!

Can't wait to tell IPA brewers their myrcene heavy hops are mango bombs because a stoner says so. They aren't mango bombs because there is no mango. To achieve mango flavor with terpenes requires a blend of terpenes. There is no singular mango terpene.

Nah. No mango in myrcene. There is myrcene in mango. Big difference. These are facts. Believe whatever you want.
It's not necessarily a mango flavor. It's kinda hard to explain. It was a earthy, but fruity kinda taste that left an aftertaste on my tongue for awhile, especially where the vapor hit my tongue.

I probably should have specified that I was using my SSV desktop vape. You wouldn't get those flavors from smoking it.

Myrcene is the most common terp in weed. Does most of the weed you have ever smoked taste like you described?

No, that was the first time I've ever had any weed that tasted that strong. It did get milder though as it aged. The vaporizer does makes everything taste better, but still. I was almost worried that I did something wrong at first. I kept asking people if it smelled and tasted alright to them, lol.

I actually still have some from that batch that's over 1 1/2 years old, and I don't notice it anymore at all. It's gotta be the mycrene thing, and that the plants were more spoiled the first round. Lots of beneficial shit going on and happy microbes made happy plants. That's my thinking now.

Guano does have beneficial microbes and good stuff in it too, so the guano probably just helps make happy soil microbes, which makes happier plants, which make more terpenes. And the term "mango" is probably just a generic kinda way to describe the funky kinda fruity flavor. It didn't taste like Mangos really, lol.

This combo of terps would result in big mango with dank on top.

The problem is myrcene is not very fruity. It's 80% herbaceous, 10% fruit and 10% spice. Pretty hard to get a fruit bomb out of myrcene. How do you know you aren't just tasting bat shit?

Got this from Weedmaps.

What does myrcene taste like?
Cannabis strains with high myrcene levels are often described as tasting spicy, earthy, and musky. Myrcene also carries sweet undertones, which have been compared to ripe mango and other fruity flavors.

There's your problem. Stoner sources are often bogus. This is not an exception. You are using anything to validate your confirmation bias.

The sensory qualities of myrcene are well studied by scientists and brewers. I am very familiar with the taste and aroma of myrcene. I stand behind my previous comments.

Forgot to mention, in addition to being a master horticulturalist, I'm also World Class brewer of IPAs. You don't realize it, but you are messing with a real life terp bro.

Many sources say, earthy, fruity, clove-like smells. And I said the taste was hard to describe. And everybody is gonna describe the taste of something a little different. To me it was a funky kinda earthy fruityness.

).

WHAT IS MYRCENE?
Myrcene (also known as alpha-myrcene or beta-myrcene) is the most common and a particularly potent terpene, with a spicy, earthy, musky scent that gives cannabis strains a mildly sweet flavor profile.

None of them tell you the proportion. I told you the correct proportion. Very low fruit and spice in myrcene. Its mostly herbaceous.

I don't care what you believe. Should I update your bro science thread with your mango bro myth?
It's not a myth or bro science. There is actually something to this. Thanks to Buddha's mycrene idea, I'm pretty sure I know what's going on now. I'm pretty sure that the "mango" effect some claim with guano is actually just the plants producing more mycrene. Bat guano is full of nutrients, and loaded with microbes, so it would make sense that it would make happier microbes.

My thought is the extra terpenes developed more because the microbes and soil was happier than normal. Crazy active happy microbes probably made crazier tastier stinkier weed. They made sure the plants were getting everything the needed.

I think that's probably where some get confused and think that molasses is making their weed sweeter. It's probably just making the microbes happier and then they're making the plants happier and put out more terpenes in return.

Don't apologize for shit man. You just opened my eyes. I think I figured out what's going on now. It all makes sense since you mentioned the myrcene. I don't believe it's the guano itself, but more a really active and healthy microherd with enough nutes to feed them. Guano is a good source of microbes and nutrients though. I have microbes now, but I can't have as many as I did when I was brewing a tea every watering.

Thanks Buddha, I learned a lot. Logic would suggest that you're correct.
