Too much defoliation?

Can anyone tell me if I've defoliated my autoflower too much?? I had no choice..I've got two 1.2 tents with 5 autos in each..this being the smallest.. they're about 2 weeks into flower an since they got bushier the humidity shot upto 89 even with a good dehumidifier it only goes down to 70 since I defoliated it's around 50-55 so defoliating has helped humidity..but I'm just unsure if I've gone too far an took too many leaves off?

Good good that's what I wanted to hear! Yeah they're doing great to be honest they've been growing rapid.. was only about 3 weeks ago they was a fraction of the size they are now.. one of them is 1.2 metre tall..

I agree with @lime73 on the defol. The rapid growth is your plant stretching for light, and air circulation will help with the humidity.

Don't they only stretch for the light when they aren't getting enough light? Im using a 600w hps 18inch above the canopy. Also there's 2 9inch oscillating fans in each tent (1 above canopy/ 1 below canopy) with 150mm fan/filter kit in each tent.

I stand corrected. You have more than enough light and air circulation. I need a bigger light. My autos are always short under 235 watts at 24". Go figure.

What you are dealing with could well be plant competition. When plants sense near by shade due to over crowding and mass overlapping of leaves they stretch to get an advantage. Many species do this so I would gamble mj does too, being an absolute light hog.

Personally, if it came to massive defoliation over removing one or two plants in an over crowded tent, I would remove one or two plants every time. You can ofc remove lower leaves to aid in low canopy air flow but I would always draw the line at that, no full plant defoliation. 4 plants with space to grow into will be happier than 6 heavily defoliated plants.

You have stunted the growth by full defoliation and that will have an effect, be it lower end yield or a longer flower duration. It also isn't guaranteed that many leaves will not grow back and put you back in an overcrowded high humidity situation again. All the healthy airflow possible can not fix genuine over crowding, the leaves sit on top of each other and trap in condensed water. If you have to defoliate again it will once again come at a cost.

It's like an elite runner starving himself for 1 week before a marathon then being suprised that he can only maintain 10 minute miles.

If you take two out you will likely get lower yield since the stretch and realistic time to manipulate canopy area for efficient light use is kinda over. On the other hand you will have a more certain chance of mold free bud. It's ofc entirely up to you. I'm just trying to give you some potential outcomes. In the larger picture just don't over crowd again, we've all done it and learned why not too ;p.

Definitely not going to be making the same mistake again haha to be honest 5 plants in each seem to be alright (space wise) it's just the humidity.. 1 of the tents is fine now I've defoliated abit also with the dehumidifier..it's just the other tent I can't seem to get the humidity down..doing my head in it is.
