Silica and seedlings

I googled around, the RAW Nutrients feeding schedule includes silica during week one of veg, at like 50% of the regular dose. Or 1/8 teaspoon per gallon week 1 vs 1/4 teaspoon per gallon the rest of the way.

The Dinafem seeds website said plants need silica over their entire lifecycle, and to start at 20-30% strength for young plants and work up gradually as your plants grow.

K. So thats during veg. Leads me to believe I shouldn't use it during seedling stage.

Seem right to you?

In hydro but not in soil, if I wanted silica I'd find a rock dust product specially made for soils and mix in a small amount before planting. It's pretty available in nature that liquids are not needed and don't have the same slow breakdown a soil gives.

I use Armor Si which is a silica/potassiumhttps://www.dinafem.org/en/blog/how-silicon-can-help-you-grow-better-cannabis/#:~:text=Many%20research%20studies%20have%20confirmed,regime%20of%20your%20cannabis%20crop.&text=Research%20indicates%20that%20silica%20must,clone%20stage%20until%20harvest%20time. mix during all the stages. Have a look at this article regarding the benefits of silica. They say to use it at all stages but that is just one source.

which product specifically? it is safe you just need very little. if you don't have an EC/TDS meter use half of what it says on the bottle.

I used to use H&g amino treatment with silica and it gives em nice sturdy stems.

Yea I read the article. If it mentioned seedlings then I missed that.

I'm just concerned that they are so fragile it might cause an issue.

That is a very important concern. I grow in coco and use GH products. At seedling I give them 1/4 strength. The beginning of that article says "Research indicates that silica must be used during the plant’s entire life cycle, from the seedling or clone stage until harvest time. " That said it does depend on the medium your are growing in as Tetrahedral points out.

I recently added in maxicrop seaweed extract, I'm sure it will list silica. Soil is easy I could not see any situation that required bottled silica.
