I'm rocking some cheap LED lights and I like what I'm seeing

Cant argue with that. Blurple lights do get the job done, just not optimal. I grew my first plant under this 1200 watt (150watt in reality) blurple light and it did fine. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07Y4XQ9RZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 . I did not find the buds as dense as I would like so I upgraded. The plant which was a freebie Northern Lights Auto did yield 3.5 oz once cured and was quite good.

I got one of those gimmicky lights from that site..mar hydro 2000..it draws somewhere in the neighborhood of 300 watts..so I would think I have a light that's about 300w equivalent

the difference between mars lights and truely gimmicky lights is that they are up front about total wattage AND their lights are great.

Maybe I can hope for the same on my grow. I have 2 philzon 600 LED lights and they only pull 108-110W each which puts me at a 216-220W in a 2x4

Yes, it is a really nice feature for a cheap light. Also let me choose between 9, 12, 15 and 18-hour built in timer cycles so another bonus. I was quite pleased with it for a cheap light. I have 3 of them now and they just sit in a box as a backup in case my 1000watt MH/HPS light dies. I always worry about having a light die in middle of a grow so I keep them just in case.

This should maybe go in another thread, but here go's.
Im looking on amazon and ebay and these led grow panels. they say there 100 1500 2000 3000 watts but only draw 35 - several hundred watts power. have they done the impossable and come up with alternatives to big hps/metal halides at a fraction of the cost or are they a big gimmic item?

Not necessarily. These are bit over 50 cents per watt.

I am just saying I've been impressed for the past few runs Ive used it for. My last round in a 2x4 with this light yielded 440g, 12/12 from seed in 5gallon DWC, so I pulled well over 1g per watt in about 90 days,
