One plant still wet, the other dry

Hey guys, harvested my plants and they’ve been hanging up to dry for 4 days. I was still expecting high humidity issues so I wet trimmed and hung them up. Unfortunately the weather turned on me and the rh is barely going above 50%. I don’t hBe a humidifier but I have been boiling a kettle and adding it to the grow room to raise the RH to 65%.
The issue is, one of my plants is extra wet and sticky and the other once has started to crisp up on the outside and is losing its smell. Should I bump the RH even more since I wet trimmed? Or start curing the dryer plant tomorrow after only 5 days of drying? The stems are snapping or cracking but they feel very dry to the touch

Some buds dry faster than others and this could be due to any number of things..

If you have one that seems ready to start curing, then by all means, start curing it.

Correct but are the buds dry on the inside? Low humidity makes for a crispy outside and wet inside.

I’ve chopped up some testers (the smallest nugs there) and they were dry enough to smoke within the first 3 days, I’m now at day 5 so I’m thinking the bigger ones should be well on their way.

The humidity has once again flipped on me. Just checked the drying tent and it’s at 68%. Ive already started to lower this and will bring it back down to 55% roughly. But I noticed that the one plant still feels dry on the outside even at 68%. Definitely ready to harvest? I thought it would have put moisture back into the buds

68 isnt to bad. Im comfortable with anything under 65 for the most part. If i had some 2L bottle size kolas i might be a little worried.

This makes growing outs seem so much easier . All that stuff is figured out for me already . Of course, there are other outside issues, like bugs , etc. It just seems so complicated to grow indoors. Glad I live where we have a choice.

Yeah man if you have the option to go outside its WAY easier and costs basically nothing in comparison. A single 5x5 tent you are looking at well over 2 grand in setup costs and over 100 a month in electric.

I have stuff hanging 2-3 weeks, feels dry, snaps, looks fresh if i rip into it so I kinda just been jarring buds as needed, annoying really. I’m drying at 60/60 in a smaller closed room. If i jar the stuff that’s been there since the start, it just pins to 60-61 in the jar, if I leave it for a couple days it won’t change. If I take a denser bud out and rip it, it’s def still needs to dry... I end up just leaving the jars open in the room and shaking them every day. I’m at the point now where I want to dry them almost to the point of no return. I also prefer dryer bud but have to wait as long as I can above that 57-58. I’m high and just babbling really..

I shouldnt have to do much more than water them every few days once i flip to flower; that means about 12 weeks of just watering them every few days, not much work to be done there. I check on anything thats drying twice a day. Bringing the temp up a touch would help things move along faster for you. I like to be in the 63-68 range.

Honestly the drying and after care has been more work then the grow, hydro at 80 gallons it’s just top ups every 2 days, open the door, look, close, smoke... lol. It’s coming to a end this weekend. I have new beans that need to grow... and my clones are dying lol. I think I will bring the temp up, it swings about 3 degrees right now. 62 max 59min

Yeah thats what i was saying.... Initial setup of the tent and what not is a good bit of work but once the train is rolling, doesnt take much to keep things running smooth.

Easiest way I found to dry very slowly was to use a swamp cooler in the drying room. Hook it up to a hygrometer and you're set. Did this for years and always came out with a good 2 week dry time. Then it went into jars or food grade buckets.

Easiest way i found was to just hang them in the tent with the side doors just barely cracked open. The house is always 63-69 degrees and humidity is always 40-45%. Seems to give me a perfect two week dry time. I love food grade buckets for curing.

I’m using a walk in cooler with a humidifier and 70 pint dehumidifier on a inkbird. Other then that just a birdcage fan on the floor. I had to shield the evaporator fan as well. I haven’t been able to do this in the past so I’m kinda winging the time to hold onto the dry, most seems around 2 weeks I can smoke and jar and it’s around 60rh. You can tell it’s not dry or cured though so I don’t know. It’s burning clean, smells not there yet, taste is hit and miss still.

If that temp and rh gives you 2 weeks then that explains me complaining about my nose and taste still. I am cutting a nicer plant tonight, I will bump down my rh and up the temp a few each and see how that works. In a sense, and not getting lost in bro science or terminology, am I not basically just curing in the the room, I can leave it in there for months and it will stay at 60. I don’t like smoking 60, I rather be 55 or even lower. So here’s me looking for somewhere dryer to put my jars because burping in the dry room is pointless.

What are your temps in there? Mine were already kinda high but the humidity was higher as well. It works great in my climate and situation.

59-62f humidity is set at 60, the condenser I’m using is old school so the thermostat has about a 3 degree range as it’s all manual. Couple days ago I actually set the dehumidifier a couple lower and gave it 3% sway, so min 57, max 61rh. I’m smoking the stuff I cut July 28th, I tested the stuff I cut 2 weeks ago tonight and it’s getting better, can still smell it’s breaking down though.

Just to be sure and yeah Im anal like that, I always double up my meters. I have my small digital hygrometers with magnets all over the place. I get them for $10 each from Lowes. That way if something is way off i will see if its accurate or not. I use those vs my other components.
