Just a few pointers for the fellow noobs that I found helpful being a first time grower, might add more as I think of them. Worth a read in my opinion. These are my autos at 4 weeks from seed.20200830_190831.jpg

1. Germination should take anywhere between 24 and 72 hours

1.5.The internet is your friend.

2. Calmag

3. No, leaving your efficiency closet light on for the plants will not work for anything more than a cute succulent size cannabis plant. - invest in a decent light to make the effort worth your time.

4. Calmag

5. Understand nutrients before you use them, if you don't understand them, don't use them until you do otherwise youll likely be posting a "why are my leaves burnt" thread soon after.

6. Leave them alone, you can check on them daily but don't go around manhandling them cause you just want to touch them. Won't do any good.

7. No, you should not just dig up a hunk of dirt from grandma's back yard and try to use it to grow cannabis, invest in some decent soil

8. NO MIRACLE GROW

9. Keep your plants at a reasonable temperature so they don't roast or freeze to death. That doesn't mean you have to go drop 200 on an air conditioner but just be mindful of what's going on.

10. Calmag

11. Your plants will only grow to the size their pot allows, so no you won't grow a pound from your 3 solo cup closet grows

12. As a noob I dont suggest messing around with defoliation, some low stress training will do you good though.

13. If you don't want nosey Nancy next door to cop a smell of your grow, invest in a carbon filter. Seriously.

14. Calmag

15. PH balancing is very very important. You'll avoid a lot of issues by doing this properly.

16. Dont suffocate your plants by shoving them in a hot closet and covering ventilation, they need to breathe too.

17. Don't water daily. Allow soil to dry out before adding more water.

18. Give water proportionate to the size of the plant, dont go and give a seedling a gallon of water

19. BE SMART - dont go around on socials flexing your grow to anyone and everyone that will listen, this will get you in trouble either legally or personally, workplaces are the CIA these days. Also you don't want to get robbed over a couple zips right?

Great post! Agrer with everything here. Here are a few more I wish someone had told me.

1. Ph in a soil grow. Check every water and feed.

2. Runoff is your friend, it tells you if the plant is eating or not.

3. You must spend a minimum of 1000 bucks us if your gonna do a 5x5 tent. that is, if you grow with LED. Nothing on Amazon or eBay under 100 bucks is found to flowere a 5x5. N O T H I NG !!!!! I REPEAT, NOT A FUCKING THING!!!!

4. Half the people on pot boards want to help, of those.... half of them are clueless.

Let me add a few more things.
Don't post pics with your lights on, turn them off and use a flash.
Don't show up and ask everyone "What do you think they will yield" There is no real good way to tell as so many things factor into it.
Don't go by what the breeders say for how long the plants will take, the seeds never read the package.
Do check the search feature before posting a question. Many of the same questions get posted daily, easy to find your answers.
Check led specs for power draw, your blurple light listed as 1200 watts is really only 150

here is one that is pot board specific...

Read through the sachasm if you ask a question. Its likely the sarchastic old timer has answered your same question 10 times just that day. For example if you got one plant in a solo cup that is in 4th week of flower and you ask what the yeild will be then expect answers like.... a pound, 5 pound, or some other crazy answer. Why? Newbs don't read enough, make some effort to do some research before you ask shit.

too many variables to say that definitively.
Nah, not really. There are exceptions of course but im of the opinion that lots of small plants are more work and 4 plants in a 5x5 yeild as much if not more than 8 will. Its about light not space. Most people think space equal yeild. But watt equal yeild. Does that make better sense?? Im kinda high.

Nothing wrong with mg other than the bull repeated by people that like to spend three times as much and beginners

Yea, I actually agree with that.MG used properly will be ok but you gotta know how to use it. I know guys that kill it with MG. I have other growers destroying plants with it.

I'm sure some people have had success but ive seem lots of burnt up seedlings and plants with a plethora of issues when using miracle grow, maybe some people can get started and finished with it but is the end product as good as if you went with something superior? I can't say as I've never used it but I'd assume not

Re: CalMag
So...it is my understanding that if one is using primarily tap water CM is not necessarily needed.
If one is using RO (or in my case rainwater with ~'0' EC) then it is a required supplement.

Thoughts?

(we've had a bunch of rain lately and I have been capturing about 10gals for the hydro system which needs 25gals to fill)
