3 stems on the node!

Hi all

I know that I'm not a experienced grower, but I always thought that it was only 2 stems per node when growing from seed!?
making kinda like a cross shape viewed from the top!

it looks like I found 3 stems on the same node in one of my NYCD...

Just curious to know if is this normal

Did it also have 3 coleoptiles and 3 first true leaves? I currently have one of these in my grow and asked the same question. I figured "great, more nodes, more budding sites!". However, the replies I got was that it does occur from time to time and will result in very leafy bud not worth growing. That being said, I'm continuing to grow mine as I have space aplenty. I wouldn't recommend you use it for breeding though.

no just started at node 5 and it keep's growing as tri-node

but first of all... don't even know if it's a girl or a boy!!

and i'm just a smoker no breeder and for me the common sense is more nodes more bud :hump: eheh

but let's see

ive had ICE plants from marijuana-seeds.nl that did the same thing. the plants came out perfectly fine with no issues. i was actually very happy to have the extra buds from the plants. peace.

There is nothing in those pics that could even hint at sex...

I call BS... sorry dude.. I gotta call like I see it...

as for 3 nodes... I have had and currently have 3 noded plants...

It seems to me that one of the possible causes is stunted growth at some point, and when the plant finally back shifts into growth again, a deformity may occur... almost like our body hurries to make up for damaged tissue... the plant may be trying to compensate for time lost...

No science here, just a dumb guess from experience...:mrgreen:

You've got a classic case of whorled phyllotaxy which is not detrimental in any way to the plant. It is a very common mutation in marijuana plants and can be passed along to offspring without causing ill effects. I'd love to get my hands on another plant with extreme whorled phyllotaxy (had one at one time that grew 3 on every other node). I'd breed it, well if you have the time and devotion to raise the subsequent generations and breed it towards having more nodes like that. Those reporting decreased yield are most likely noticing the effects of less light penetration due to "bushiness" of plant. Anybody else with different information or more light on this please continue posting.

well iam growing right now and my plant just got out of vegging and it didnt look nothing like that and its a girl

instead of 3 i had 5 right after the 2nd set of leaves

theres 5 tops all growing same speed n size just below the main shoot

so thats 6 main budsites so far

but will prob be a male so lol useless
