What’s up guys and gals. I’ve been growing for a while now but entered some new territory. I started 3 cookies USA seeds and picked the most vigorous one to keep inside & nurse as my mum plant. (The other 2 went outside)

It’s been about 2 months of veg So I went ahead & cut clones so they can root while I harvest some gsc autos out of the tent the clones will be moving to.

*MY CLONE TECHNIQUE*

1. Again this is my first time so I soaked Rockwool in a 1/4 strength veg nutrient solution for a few mins.

2. Then I cut the clones from mom, removed stems & cut leaves in half.

3. Cut the clone stem @ a 45 degree angle, scrape it & dip in cloneX rooting gel... into Rockwool.


4. I sprayed the clones with the same 1/4 solution the cubes soaked in & sprayed the humidity dome lid.

It’s been about 2 days since... gone open the vents of the dome a lil tomorrow or the next day. Hopefully all goes well.

anything I’m missing? any tips? Calling all pro cloners lol I’ll be keeping this updated with my progress.

You will get lots of differing opinions ... but this works for me

I'll use a weak BLOOM fert as my soak solution.
No misting ... opening the dome lets humidity out.
Six (6) shot glasses of water - 1 in each of the corners of the tray and two in the middle
The dome goes on and stays untouched for 12 days.
Check for new growth after 12 days
Begin opening the vents when I see new growth

I like the idea of using bloom fertilizer & I actually thought about using it but then I decided I’m gonna veg these for like 2 weeks before flipping.

1 liter of pH'd water and about 5 - 6 drops of bloom ferts - you do not need alot. The cloning gel helps the cuttings to root and that small dose of phosphorus helps to promote the root growth.

If the cuttings are in them now ... I would just leave them.

Using straight Pro-Mix as my cloning medium now - but when I did use the rockwool, I never squeezed the cubes. I would kind of "flick it" about 3 times - similar to the same motion as using a hammer - and shake the excess out. The cubes were still pretty wet when they went under the dome.

Warmth and high humidity are your best allies when cloning.

Yup. Looks like a couple of wee l'il ones.

Give them a few more days with the warm humid environment and let those roots really dig in some more before you get them out in the open and transplant them.

Good stuff.

Pretty much all of the cuttings have roots that have started to form.

How do I keep them from dropping though? I even transplanted one to fox farm soil just to see how it does & it’s not dead but it’s just slumped over it seems like they only stand up under the humidity dome I take it off and put it on every day multiple times a day but they still are not acclimated I guess I need help guys lol.

also one of the clones leaves are starting to yellow what’s up with that also???

I am a little on the redneck side of cloning.i use solo cups,clear cups and a little tape to hold em together.and a little pin hole in the top.just the way I do it don't mean it is for everybody.20200702_152613.jpg

yes it does i slowly opened them each day they are fully open now tho...should i close them? Its 75 in the dome with over 70 humidity. Been bout 15 days sice cutting i do have roots tho just not out the wool yet. ill update with pics tomorrow.

I would have before setting the clone- i use soil mix with some calmag and clonex gel, and pre-soak soil but gently squeeze out excess h20 first and then fluff before inserting cutting. You may have stunted root growth with excess saturation of your cubes. Keep a close eye on those babies over the next 24-hrs under that stronger light!! :peace:

I ended up squeezing the excess out a few days ago to allow them to dry up some. Also moving them into the other tent with higher temps helped to get most of the moisture out of there...I may have let them get too dry but like i said before the roots started to come out of the cubes so hopefully they just keep on moving into that soil!

Next clone round try taking the cutting shaving the bottom of the stem to peel off the outside skin ... dip in clonex and poke it thru the bottom of a root riot cube (After soaking it in your nutrient solution and gently squeezing it so that you don't remove all the moisture) It will have the wide end on the bottom. You need to put it in a seedling tray. Being the wide end is on the bottom.. the cube wont touch the bottom of the tray or the water you're gonna put in the bottom of the tray. Keep it under light as if you were vegging. Mist your dome as you would.. and pull those cubes up in 5 days. Not 10+ days. One or more of them would have rooted by then. Just don't forget to PH your solution.

I have the same dome by the way lol it has the extender?
