That's what worries me about rock wool. I've been told I'm insane for what I use but again results say differently. I took smaller planters like the one with soil and turned it into a "net" pot. Using coir and perlite they root out nicely. I've completed one run this way. In fact the girls that got poisoned were grown this way. Never weighed what I got from her but we went from 300.00 a month at dispensaries to about 140.00 for three month before I ran out. That is how my current girls are planted. Then again my DWC is different from yours.

Seeing tiny progress. The girls aren't 100% but they are getting better every day. One of the girls roots have touched down and I had did something drastic to the other girl as I wasn't seeing no progress at all and thought she was a goner.. so as mentioned before I checked the rockwool and it was soaking wet and I initially thought it was being overwatered, so i thought I would let it dry for a couples days so I did.. checked again days later it was still damp so I thought fuck it, i have nothing to lose the girl looks like its dying so I made a cut down the cube and carefully separated it and it was dry asf down the middle! I dropped abit of the rez water on the roots and a day later (today) new roots have come out the bottom so i will leave them to rest for a couple days and check on them then. Next grow im throwing all my rockwool out coz they fuckn suck. I will hopefully get my hands on some rapid rooters/root riot if I can find some in my area.

Ppm has stayed the same. Ph has stayed at 5.8

My bad about taking pictures when the hps is still on. I didn't want to disrupt anything and just let the girls be. Ill post better pics later. Chur

All those different rooting cubes seem like a waste to me. The only medium I have used, and had decent successes coir and perlite. Roughly 70/30 coir/ perlite for 75%of the container and pure perlite for the top. Leaves no question about moisture. That is some shit about the rock wool, I thought it was supposed to spread the water around.

Yes bro I may even consider your method of the DIY rooters. It seems more natural

You may have put them in a little early but they look good, keep water level close to net pot so bubbles will splash the clay pebbles, roots will find the water.Cover your buckets and the rockwoll the IR is heating the pails up.Good luck.

My advice, as a new grower that experienced a lot of problems, amplified by me trying to go extreme all the time....

1, do not ever use rockwool in your setup. It is asking for trouble.
2, if you don't have a chiller get one. I ran without one with good results but it is such a good preventative measure for bad shit growing in there, in the long run you will be grateful
3, the bigger the res the better. You may use more food but in the end everything is so much more stable and less maintenance.
4, invest in the best air pump you can. The more bubbles in there the better and faster your plant will grow. Some people rather use waterfalls and they do work, but I think bubbles are better personally and waterfall and bubbles are better! regardless! if you waterfall do it right and make it spray that shit all over the place.
5. good flow everywhere. I keep running into that issue, so do everything you can to make sure water moves freely around in there.

Other than that I feel like it is pretty straight forward if you keep up with your water changes and make sure your PH is right and stuff.

On a side note, I am looking at your buckets and I am curious, is that a DIY setup or purchased? it looks purchased. it recirculate? Do you have a link or a name for it because I really like it and I am considering replacing my buckets and don't want to DIY if I can avoid it.

Yes a water chiller will solve alot of problems but it just isn't that possible for me atm as they range from $1000 here, Amazon and eBay isn't an option either because shipping cost are ridiculous and quite frankly shipping just isn't available to my country with most items. I've been trying to get my hands on hydroguard, but it is almost impossible unless I spend over $500 for 1 quart bottle.

I may have some devastating news on this short lived post lol I believe I am seeing early signs of root rot due to my water temps lingering around 70-72 degrees. Roots have some brownish spots in some areas and the whole root structure having a yellow tint.

I have 2 litres of hydrogen peroxide h202 if shit gets out of hand but i am going to do a res change and place res outside of tent and see if i can keep temps low 20200916_194625.jpg20200916_194638.jpg20200916_194642.jpg20200916_194645.jpg20200916_194730.jpg20200916_194754.jpg

Haha our last dwc harvest was also soil converted to DWC. It works though can be a bit messy :D

Man if it is young just restart and lose the rockwool. Thats 90% of the problem I think. No point in fighting root rot this early when you still have rockwool unless you removed it. It always causes me headaches.

Res change done today fresh water and nutes. Ppm@400.

Roots have recovered. No h202 added i just let the girls do its thing. Maybe the cannazyme could have had something to do with it. As I added 10mls extra straight in the res (not recommended) after noticing brown spots on the roots but now they have almost disappeared.

I've moved res bucket outside the tent yesterday to battle the warm temps. Now the water is sitting around 64-68 degrees. I also added 2 airstones to site buckets so now the girls have 2 air stones each to keep them breathing.

The girl in soil not looking to happy after transplanting into a bigger home 2 days ago.
