hi everyone! First post, first grow. I'm learning a lot but I am stumped right now. I'm growing outdoors in zone 7b, so far my plants have handled beautifully without having to monitor PH. Temps have dropped so that its 60F at night rather than 75F. I keep them in an unzipped mini greenhouse at night and put them out in the sun during the day.
A few weeks ago the plants started showing calcium spots, so I supplemented with tums water (crushed cal carb in water) and also fed with Fox Farm Big Bloom.. its what i had. Prior to that,, Ive been giving it kelp and compost top dress every few weeks otherwise.
Everything seemed fine but my fiance pointed out lightly burnt tips on most fan leaves a week ago. I am afraid I gave too much big bloom fertilizer last go around (2wks ago). This is where I regret keeping a journal- I was a lil free handed with pouring the big bloom and can't remember my schedule.
None of the newer leaves are burnt and now the calcium spots are worse and there is some yellowing... i don't know if its nute lock due to over fertilizing or if my Ph is too high and this is also causing deficiencies. The bigger leaves are kinda droopy, claw like but not showing nitrogen toxicity (not dark green). I've heard this can be due to a high Ph. Antacids have a Ph of 10 and my tap water is around 7.5...so this also makes sense imo.
I just ordered a soil Ph meter so I can do the right testing... its been trial,error, and sensing but now I know better.
Can anyone tell by the pictures if the plants are showing signs of high Ph nute lock or if it looks like normal deficiencies during this time of flowering (around 4 weeks). One plant is worse than the other- pics are of plant most affected. The one in better shape is darker in color and less stippled, buds are fatter, but leaves got kinda droopy like the other plant.
I flushed the worse one yesterday and then fed with a little tums water/Epsom salt. I watered it down so the calium could travel to roots. Seemed happier after that. Today I gave it half dose of Tiger Bloom and a little more tums water (1 crushed tums per 1.75 liter bottle) i fed half the bottle and watered down..then panicked and added brewed coffee to bring ph down... we will see.
I will repost when I test the soil and water Ph.
