Total yield: 74g. May lose a few grams to h20 evap. Let's call it 70g. It will take a few days to properly dry. I placed the parchment paper pieces in a clean plant saucer and placed it on top of one of my nursery tents. Cool and dark. A great place to dry undisturbed for maximum terpene retention. There's about 17g of what I would call low grade hash that will be used for edibles. I have another batch of the same size to process tomorrow. All in all I expect about 1/4# of hash from the trim off my last flower cycle. The process really wasn't too bad. Smoked a little in the bong. Very potent. Kinda made me stupified

I wonder why that occurred? I've never made it before, but my patties are hard like modeling clay. I didn't even press them or anything. Tossed 'em in the oven @ 125 for about 20 minutes just to draw out the moisture. Did the trick it seems. I cut the parchment paper around the globs of hash and placed them in a food dehydrator for about 10 minutes @ 100. Just enough heat and air exposure to harden it up a bit.

There was still quite a bit of moisture in the patties this morning. To combat the possibility of mold growth I cut the patties into very small pieces to expose more surface area to air for more even and rapid drying.
Things I would do different next time:
1) No food dehydrator / low temp oven for any length of time. It's just not a good idea to accelerate the drying process with heat.
2) I would only use 2 bags for hash filtration in the 5 gallon bucket. The 120 and the 73 micron. The others were a waste of time and very little hash actually collected inside of them. The majority was collected in the 2 bottom bags. 73 micron 120 micron.
3) Press the patties with the mesh screen the 25 micron mesh screen the bubble bag set comes with. I lost mine. Operator error. I will order one off amazon. I believe it greatly assists with removing excess moisture in preparation for proper drying in smaller pieces.
4) Cut the patties into smaller pieces after pressing with the 25 micron screen.
5) Keep more ice on hand. It's pretty incredible how fast you go through it. I would suggest 30-40# on hand. I ran out and could have processed 2 more runs.

Awesome write up. I was just about to buy a bag set and try it out myself. Was considering one of the machines so I don't have to mix by hand. Plus I would have to buy an oar or something to mix with lol.
The Bubble Machines and clones of them seem to be ok but I was thinking if all its doing is agitating the stuff in the bag, what about one of these non electric ones? Seems like it would work great. Anyone disagree before I buy this thing out and try it?

I would not recommend a machine. To me it would be akin to shopping for an "ass wiping machine." There's simply no need to complicate the process with a poorly manufactured electronic device to solve a problem that doesn't exist. Put your big boy pants on, get a $26 30 gallon Brute trash can from home depot, get 2 oars from amazon for $14.99, get the same 2 taps I got from amazon for $8.99, and work those forearms like you got some balls sir
All kidding aside I almost bought one until I realized what a waste of money it is. They really just spin the wad of material back and forth and are manufactured to about the poorest standards imaginable. Then when the machine breaks what do you do? Order another $70-$100 machine. The agitation process is really not a big deal and produces a higher yield than any of those machines will produce, because the boat paddle provides more agitation. Also, working the material from inside a 30 gallon trash can gives you considerable leverage to really work the material. To each their own though. Nothing in my system is really breakable other than the mesh bubble bags. I'll counter my opinion with a buddy of mine's preference. He has a grow about twice the size of mine and uses the machines exclusively, because he's a lazy prick
But he does like them.

2 washes on the stems. Could have gotten another 5 grams but I ran outta ice
4 washes on the material. Basically you just keep running it until the labor is no longer worth it. I could have done a 5th pull, but ice reserves were low and I was super fucking tired

I would recommend using the 220 bag to work your material in. Then filter the water with trichomes through your 73 & 120 micron bags. The others are a complete waste of time and they will collect very little yield. What's worse is when one is stacked into the other the yield from the next bag sticks to the bottom of the bag you just pulled out. The result is that you're scraping hash from the bottom of the bag and it is not a pretty process. When I reduced to 2 bags (the ones that collected 95% of the yield mind you) that issue was no longer a problem. I snugged the 120 micron bag farther down the sides of the 5 gallon bucket so there were several inches distance between that bubble bag and the 73 micron bag. It's something you wouldn't even think about until it happens to you during the process. I was just like what the fuck? To each their own though. Try it once, and you'll refine things to your liking from there.
