How far to keep light away from plants

so my seedling just hatched, and I got a new 320w kingbright. How far should I keep my plants away from the light. I have them 17inches away, and dimmed the light a tad

put your hand under the light and move it to a comfotable position and you can have that as the hight from light to plant tops. i have my mars hydro about and the new seedling i have is at 4 inches away the cuttings are at 8 inches

Would 15inches be to far? I thought I heard 15in. Away from the light? I kept my past plants 12 inches away, and that was us a 600w kingled (the actual output is 120w).

my mars is a mars hydro ts600w actual draw is 100w so they sound similar, i personaly would have them closer then 15, but its up to you, you should be ok at that height i think

Buy a $20 light meter and actually measure it, 15k lumens works for my seedlings.

It can really help as they progress through their lifecycle. I use my little cheap one all the time.

Try a foot away and if the plant reacts negatively you can raise it. If it starts stretching a lot then lower it.

What i would do newly hatched seedling under a lamp for around a week 15 watt bulb 4 inches away, it won't burn it just give it some height before tent.

Yours was the most helpful. Just downloaded a free app, and got my lights down to 15,000 lumens. It was sitting at 20,000.
