i got my 70watt HPS at hope depot for 70$ and its working great!

Yeah i just got mine not too long ago but i need to manually wire it and haven't had the time to do that yet. I think i'm just going to end up starting the flowering with leds and introduce the hps sometime towards the end of the week. By then i'll have made a wire for it and figured out how i want to mount it.

so what are you using leds as main light and supplementing with the 70 watt? how far are you into flowering? How are your temp issues?

So i'm going to put the babies into 12/12 in a few hours. They are pretty damn tall and showing some really nice internodes. Within the next few days i'm going to trim some of the lower growth, setup the supplementary HPS and start them up on some foxfarm. All in All i am pleased and can't wait for the new year to come sooner. Enjoy the pics.




PS also watered today...seems like their uptake has increased quite a bit. I watered them to the brim friday, and they were kind of dry today so i added about a liter to each plant. I basically try going off a moisture meter and the perkiness of the leaves.

Oh if you are wondering. Lower Left: HSSB, Upper Left: DS and SSB(shes a runt) Upper Right:bubble gum, Lower Right: 2 SSB's.

im pretty far into flowering. its a auto flowering Snowryder. so its on 20/4 lighting right now, the HOTTEST it has got was 92 but its right around 82-87 day and 70-73 at night. im using the 70watt HPS as my main light, but to get more light to the bottom of the plant i have 2 100watt CFL's on each side (4) CFL's. heres a pic from 2 days ago. shes really come to life when i put the HPS in. i also wired mine up. VERY easy. good luck man.

I just fed my babies some foxfarm flowering nutes. I decided to take the DS out and keep it in veg instead of flowering. I hadn't topped it...and i felt that it might just be more rewarding to veg it into a mother and take some clones and maybe work on a mini sog in the next few months. I'm pretty indecisive...well i just like to figure things out in my mind.

Anyhow that leaves three bags left, 4 plants total. Two SSB's are sharing a pot.

The bubblegum is showing some early pistils, more so than the HSSB. The flowering, overall seems to be going well.

I'll post some pictures when there are more pronounced characteristics.

I still haven't setup the 70 watt hps supplement. I should have that taken care of by the end of this week or sooner. So the LED is carrying the whole weight atm.

All in all. I'm satisfied. Its a very low maintenance grow. I can't wait for the next 50 or so days to go by.

I'll keep my readers updated.

So done and done with.

Today is day 6 of flowering, i watered the babies yesterday, and am probably going to do so again tomorrow. Things are looking good.

Here are some pictures. I moved the plants around a bit, so Upper left Bubblegum, Lower Left HSSB, and Far right are the two SSB's.

looks great, i have my 70watt about 5 inchs from the top of my cola. i think your light needs to be closer, remember its no 400 watter good job man

yeah even though it doesn't show i would say the hps is about 7ish inches away from the top cola of the plant closest to it. i'm going to figure out how i want to rearrange things so they utilize the light better. Any suggestions? more than welcome.

i would hang the HPS directly over the plants, then use the 400watt LED as light for the bottom of the plants

So Yesterday i trimmed some of the lower growth of the Bubblegum and HSSB. I noticed some white powdery splotches on some of the lower leafs. Not many, but just a few. I did some "searching" and it seems to be early signs of mildew.

So i think i'm going to get some skim milk and dilute to 10% and mist them at some point this week.

I ALSO FUCKED UP.

By overfeeding them "Big Bloom" nutes. I didn't go over over board, but i don't know...i'll just have to wait it out. There is a slight discoloration, like a light greening...so i'm hoping they will bounce back and not turn towards the yellow. I've thought about flushing them...but with the LEDs i am a bit hesitant to because i know that plants transpire a lot less than compared to other lighting.

However if i notice them getting any worse, i guess i'll have no option.

Otherwise, they seem to be doing well.

I would say within a foot. Sorry the camera makes the distance look greater than it is. But yeah maybe i can drop them a bit...

The reason i don't want the light TOO close is because i have noticed some leaf warping, and from most other grows i have read--its kinda ideal to have them within a foot. I guess a few extra inches couldn't hurt though.

ya i would say with the leds if u see burn then ur too close haha otherwise should be fine..i guess thats in my case with the UFO not positive for u tho

its not exactly "burning". leds generally have two frequencies, the blue (for veg) and red (for flower). So if you bring plants way too close you don't get as even of a distribution of light on the leaves. They will grow, but look funny.

I haven't worked with a procyon, yet i hear they are very similar. Same LED lights except the LightBlaze has a dimmer. I don't use the dimmer, however i've read in some posts that by cutting down the LED intensity, i could end up saving more wattage.

For example running the sucker say at 100 watts achieves maximum utility. If i dimmed the light i could run it on 50 watts for maybe a decrease in 30% light. Getting that extra 30% costs me 50 more watts. So therefore i should operate it at a lower level until i'm in the later stages of flowering to crank up the intensity.

I personally rather not go testing suggestions like this...i mean they sound "practical" to a degree, but not enough for me to start making changes.

I really do need to spray them with the skim milk. Don't like seeing mildewy splotches at all...and i especially don't want to see them spread.

So far the plants are maintaining a steady green/light green color. It's not swaying to a lighter yellow...so i'm hoping they will bounce back. If they don't get any worse----trust me...i'm going to ease up off the nutrients quite a bit.

Nothing would suck more at this stage then to lose my crop when i've invested a good month and a lot of effort into my rig. I can only imagine how a grower with a lot of plants would feel at the loss of his entire crop.

So i watered the plants yesterday. The PH was off so i came to figure out that the lighter color in them was because of that. However i have one of those Pen PH Meter's. The Milwakee PH 600. The yellow pen, and i spent quite a lot time trying to figure out to get it accurate.

For some reason when i dip it into water, the Meter starts coming down in PH.

For example if i dip it in PH 7 Water, it'll start at 7.5 and start coming down to 7 slowly.

I don't know i spent about 30 minutes trying to calibrate it so i did my best.

I just hope its enough. Sorry for the poor quality picture thats heavily paintshopped. haha. I have a shitty camera and with shitty lighting.

Also does flash photography stress a plant? I have no idea...but i try to avoid flashing my plants...another reason in poor quality pics.

The HSSB looks amazing. The bubblegum seems to be struggling a bit, but otherwise they look good!

Here's a shitty teaser pic, i'll try getting up some better photography up in subsequent weeks.

As for the mildew, i just ended up buying this spray that is organic safe. Something like that. It stinks like vinegar, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

Otherwise the plants look healthy. If anyone could explain how the hell to accurately use a PH pen meter, plz let me know. I just don't know if i want to dish out $100+ for a better meter.

If i lose any of them, shit it will be to shitty PH.

The thing about using the old analog meters with the aluminum and copper probes is it takes time to register small changes. More severe changes will show up almost immediately. Slight changes take about 10 minutes to stabilize out properly and read accurately.
