You are literally retarded if you think I'm a cop or support the the criminal justice system the way it is. Policing starts at the top, and reforming the criminal justice system needs a top down approach, and throwing bottles and shooting fireworks at police while chanting "all cops are bastards" when protests are over doesn't inspire me in any meaningful way.

In order to even start defunding anything, the whole purpose of the justice system has to be reformed to accommodate that type of change.

Two extremes clashing in the streets under the cover of darkness, after the real protests are long over is a problem, period, and it deserves to be addressed in a meaningful way. Dismissing, justifying or blaming the violence on others doesn't pass the sniff test, and if these after hours "protests" are acting as the vehicle for radicals on both sides of the equation to cause violent, criminal, civil unrest, that vehicle must be removed. It's how reality works.

I thought the idea was to defund the police and use that money toward resources to meet your goal. So you kind of just made the argument for it. Defunding sends a message and frees up money to keep monsters from taking human lives over petty crimes.

Its time we take decisions away from these ego maniacs and send in some professionals to help deal with problems.

Yes. My contention is that defunding the police is an end goal, not a starting point. I'm not against it, just pointing out that some of the violence is counter productive. On a road to voluntary civil obedience through social change, violence doesn't inspire my confidence this movement.

I agree that money could be transferred or used differently than just buying tactical gear and armored vehicles. But the people pushing for this are people that don't even have an actual plan. And those posting on this site are totally clueless. I've been living with their type for years here in Portland. They support the violence and vandalism in Portland. If they are protesting against police violence with their own violence then they're no better than what they claim they're protesting against.

These are the protesters in Portland. An elderly lady comes out of her house with a fire extinguisher to put out a fire they started and they taunt her.



And I don't know what they did to this elderly woman.

It's completely counter productive. This violence is not a protest. These people are no longer protesters. They're criminals. They have nothing to do with BLM.

Very true. I reached out to my bestie from high school who lives in Ashland a day or two ago and she says she's safe for now. I'm super scared for her and her family. Absolutely horrible!!

Now you're trying to make me out to be a stupid FOX news viewer. Give it up. Go hijack a different thread. People are losing their homes and everything they own and you're stuck on stupid defending a bunch of criminals rioting and looting the city I was born and raised in. Why don't you do something productive and volunteer to help those affected by the fires or make a donation to one of the many organizations that ARE actually doing something to help people. I posted plenty of links.

You are the one who said defund the police meant meth heads run rampant in crime sprees across Portland unchecked. It's a false and dishonest statement. Also part of the right wing propaganda stream at this very moment. Suggest you look at your news sources and question the sources that are telling you this.

This came up because some right wing Trump supporters posted bullshit about Antifa causing those fires. Seems you have more in common with Q because you are doing the same thing right here. I'm not conflating the disaster around the fires with the disasters created by fascists in Portland's city government. Why are you?
