HELP! MY CURING BUDS SMELL WEIRD?????

hello! This is my first time growing and I'm in the curing process. I cant tell if its trichomes or powered mildew! I did leave them out to dry before jarring and I even thought it felt too wet maybe still so I pulled them out dried another day or 2 then put them back. I've been airing them daily for maybe 10 mins. But it doesn't smell very good, and the weed just crumbles between my fingers and feels dusty. I know I messed up but idk what I did. I attached photos! I'm worried about mildew because the smell is earthy.

How long before you put in the jar did the stems snap or bend over when you put it in the jar as always thank you for your time

You could very well have jarred too soon and developed mold. It should not smell weird. There's also a bunch of what looks like hair or lint in those photo's.

I myself don't cure. I dry until it's ready to smoke and jar it up. No need to worry about mold that way. I'm not burping jars multiple times a day and checking the readings on a hydrometer.

How long total did you dry?

also.. wet or dry trim. Trimming before drying reduces time needed.

Temps and humidity in your drying space? Are you using air tight jars? humidity meter in the jar to monitor?

From what I know it takes a while for the smell that we all want to set in. It will smell like grass/hay/earth. Needs weeks in the jar with proper burping before you smell some real danky shit lol

I dry my weed until it's dry and ready to smoke then jar it up. It smells dank if you open the jar 5 minutes later. I never have any grassy hay smell. I don't spend weeks burping or checking hygrometer readings. Many new growers put wet weed into jars and don't do what they need to do and end up with moldy weed. That's why I am not a believer in curing and burping. Dry it until it's dry and sticky when you squish it and then jar. Stick it on a shelf until you're going to smoke it. It might be simple but that's how I roll and whenever I open a jar the smell hits you in the face and stinks up the room. In fact I always try and use the simplest methods for anything cannabis related.

Growing and harvesting cannabis does not have to be as complicated as many make it to get excellent results with the end product.

In total I think it was about 5 to 6 days in dry time and I bent the stems and it snapped like it was gonna snap off so I figure it was OK. But it did the snap thing after 4 days before I repulled them out to dry another 2 days. The weed part just still felt kinda wet ish and smelled like grass after I trimmed it, so I thought some more dry time would be good
:(

There is some hair. Lmfao When it was hanging to dry my cats got into the room and they shed alot. I've been trying to get them all off since I trimmed. But I was out to dry almost a full week. 4 days on the stem and 2 days off. :( I dont see like mold mold so I wasn't sure if maybe it was powered mildew

Ordinary manual wind-up mildew is bad enough but the POWERED stuff oh man I’m sorry.

I dried them a total of 6 days. 4 on the stem and I checked and they felt alittle crisp and the stem did the bend snap thing so I cut and trimmed them to cure but after I cut them they smelled like wet grass so I dried them 2 more days and now im on a week of curing or like a week and a half

get hygrometer or something that measures humidity, evidently you want to hit 55-63% humidity range depending on which dickhead you ask on here. it should take 3 to 7 days, and the faster it drys the more likely it will smell like hay or some shit. you can use brown bags but if the humidity is acceptable in the room then just hang string up and rest the buds on it. no right way to do it but there is certainly a few wrong ways. better luck next time homie
