Transplanting a tall flowering plant

Hmmm, so I was wondering, I have this one plant that has grown to about 5 feet but the pot that it's in is a one-gallon pot (maybe 2 IDK) but small. I bought this huge, like 10-gallon planter and really, really want to put that plant in it to see what it would do with more room for the root system but I'm petrified to transplant it at this stage. I'm 3 weeks in flower. I'm usually pretty good at transplanting. I have good homemade soil and use root tone (which I may not need for this job because I plan to put the whole root and soil in at one time. What are your thoughts?

Some if not the majority would probably say leave it alone, but I say if you feel there’s more potential just take suggestions and see how you wanna handle it. 5 ft is pretty tall in a 1 gal pot. You gotta put the whole damn plant in a trellis to keep it from falling over when those nugs get heavy lol good luck either way.

If it is a plastic pot cut the bottom off and put it slightly into your 10 gallon pot
Like I said, I'm pretty good at transplanting. This is what I do. I set the plant (pot and all) in the new planter and fill in around the pot with new soil. The pot creates the exact size hole. Then I take the plant out and sprinkle some rooting hormone in the hole. Next, I pull the plant out and pop it in the hole I just created. And add more soil and water. This method has proven successful over the years. But, I'm concerned about disturbing the root ball at this stage as I have some great-looking colas. I'm going for it today! What the hell, if something happens, I have 3 more plants. I would hate to put it in shock and slow down the flowering process because I'm wanting them to finish before I go on a family vacation on October 19. Thanks for the advice!

Most will finish by the 19th but your looking at 7+ day dry time that's just as important to the final product. Good luck

Dang, I forgot about that. What if I harvest and let hang while I'm gone. Does hanging like that for two weeks hurt it any, like dry out too much?

Here are some photos. Do you think the pot that it's in is too small or can it finish in this pot? I also wanted to show you the planter that I want to put it in. Then I took a distant shot for comparison.

Two weeks would be a long dry with the lack of fan leafs on your plants. without something keeping the humidity up in your drying room they will most likely be a slight bit drier than you might like. Your plants look nice, I don't like to be transplanting at this stage of the game so i would make sure they are fed & watered properly in their same pots. You can always poke a few holes in your soil half way between the stalk & pot to help with even watering, I use a small piece of bamboo 1/8in in diameter to poke holes when needed

pot size is fine if you get it on a dripper. probably would finish better that way vs transplanting.
Give them just water? Oh, that's what I need to do anyway is flush. I thought I would transplant to give the plant's roots more room because they're going to want more food when those baby buds start getting thick and I'm afraid that pot is too small for all that activity at the top of the plant. But okay, dang, I wish I hadn't of bored holes in the bottom of that $20 pot, I could take it back. Maybe I'll just plant a coconut tree.:D:P

Or let them dry out good and light use razor blade
To cut the sides planter. Tape the sides back up tight cut the bottom out and put it in the hole then just work dirt carefully around after u take the sides off. I’ve never seen my plants suffer at all doing it this way cause you don’t risk breaking any roots. But your yield
Is gonna suffer in those smaller pots.. good luck

I knew it! And that's the answer I was looking for since I bought this huge planter. I think she'll do a lot better in a bigger pot. Did you read the way I transplant? I make an impression in the center of the new planter with the plant that's going in and the fit will be perfect, no roots disturbed. I've repotted other plants with success, so weed shouldn't be any different. I don't see how she would go in shock if nothing is disturbed and once she realizes she's in a different pot, she's already been soaking up the nutes in that soil and then transition.
