I cut off my lower 40% or so a while back and then have trimmed up and defoliated the entire flower. The idea being 1)Airflow 2) extra light 3) get ALL the plant energy going to the bigger stuff and minimize popcorn.

I have a few buddies who grow, its fun to trade and compare especially if doing the same strains. It also doesn't hurt when friends or family go dry and I can hook them up with oz's for free cause I have more than I can smoke in years after a good harvest:D
This is one of the main reasons I grow. I aim to have enough where I can smoke as much as I want (which can add up not to try and brag but some days if im hanging at home I can burn through an ounce or more easy smoking king size joints, which I pack almost as tight as I can so they burn slower... and that just burns through weed like crazy some days) But mainly its gotten the relationship between me and mom so much closer, we used to never talk, and then we started smoking every day, and its just been a blessing but sounds strange... She had hid it through my teens and stuff but after my early 20s it was better for me to supply her than her trying to get it. Id much rather have her save all that money (shes sacrificed way too much my whole life, definitely the least I can do, wish I had a bunch of cash to give her but hey...it will have to do.) Also a major reason for growing organically, mainly taste smell and general appreciation of the flower, then ease of growth and maintenance... But a huge benefit is knowing what goes into my weed well before day one, way back years when Im making my composts and stuff. Then Ive got other family that smokes and appreciate marijuana as much as anyone else I know, so I love dropping a pound in their lap out the blue.
I've had friends I still see regularly to this day that I've known since middle school and highschool, and back when I was growing up they had smoked me up many of times before school and stuff, so I love having enough to smoke them up or give them whatever/as much and as often as needed,
Thats literally what goes through my head when deciding how much to grow, it has to be enough to supply all that, until the next harvest, whether thats indoors or outdoors or whatevers in the works. But definitely one of my favorite things about growing is being able to do that for people... and really not in like a way to "be that dude" or the connect or any bullshit like that.... These are friends and family I love, and if I can supply them with the best, most effective weed they can find, for free, and are able to save money instead of buying it... Then thats my sole goal..(after ensuring there is enough to supply myself, so I can continue to supply others) for the people who know me, know Im indebted to them and just want whats best for them.

Sorry for the personal ramble of random bs I forgot what my main point was in all of this, but what you said just struck home and wanted to point out some motivations for why I grow. Cheers all

100% this. Smoking has always been about hanging with friends and bonding, not being cool or trying to be hip. Being able to help family in any way you can is a blessing and I'm sure your mom appreciates your relationship and will even more as she ages! Family is important and too many loose sight of that for money or other b.s.

This comforts me a bit knowing my GG fem seeds from canuk seeds / msnl which Ive been skeptical of their authenticity for this whole grow, Looks identical to your legitimate cut, and we are almost exactly the same maturity level mine out not in a greenhouse though and I've got 4 separate ones going one pheno seems to be ahead of the other 3 by about 1.5 weeks or more, They've all got some great smells for sure though, one has a real chemically mouthful of chewed up glob of skittles super excited to try it out.

Do you have a local or private source for your GG cut or did you grab that from a certain seed bank or something? Always looking to add another reputable breeder to the supply list.

Cheers :joint: :leaf: :peace:
I have a buddy in NW Mass who has had these mothers for years. I know where it came from and know it's legit. I will start early next season and do it again with GG, next year going with light dep. I've got a buddy who wants it to so maybe I can hook you up. You're in SW Maine somewhere? I get up to Portsmouth once in a while. I kew some people reversed and back crossed it (bx) but didn't know they were sold commercially.

Just found out a buddy is having the same difficulty with plants seemingly behind schedule. Weird.

Hi Mass, I'm just north of Portland and the cold weather is really finishing off my early girls and kicking my late bloomers into gear. Everything seems to be right on time. And looking AOK

This year I'm growing completely organic direct in ground from seed planted on April 8th.

OG Kush 7' tall and 6' across. First week of October harvest.

Thatd be awesome, I can definitely trade something in return, we'll have to discuss your preferences also access to some legitimate med strains cannatonic and other high CBD as well as some hybrids, and a friend whos super into concentrates with an awesome collection if thats your thing...

But Im actually on the south shore of Mass, but Im all over the state (just not right now since Im literally living and working inside my tent and plot lol) I go up to NHVTME alot in winter and spring so maybe we can set something up a few months from now for either some indoors or next years outs, I could really bug your ear for a few minutes on some automation stuff too... We'll have to talk in DM after this harvest busy season, appreciate it.

As for the GG being sold commercially... Thats why I was so skeptical, although they've looked and grown as close to what I've seen and read about legitimate GG grows. Its my 3rd year running it outdoors, but first year that Im trying it from a new seed bank (msnl) and breeder (canuk) ... But as I was saying I had though they were just calling it GG because the name has been so popular these last few years and was really skeptical of it this whole time, but your picture looks like I could have taken it so thats good at least.

Thanks again Z, much appreciated. Enjoy the rest of the season :weed: :joint::peace:

still a little early...
Hang in there @Wormtown75 , got a while to go yet.. believe me, your buds can still double if you let them.. you want your plants to be at the end of their life cycle, leaves all yellow, buds orange, take them further than you ever have, then go another week. Your in a different class now. Hang in, hang on, and hold out, you will harvest exceptional medicine.

Flowering is strain dependent, it’s not “late”
No, I gotta agree with the Train, not all but most plants are a couple weeks behind where we were last year, not just me but a majority of people in MA have reported the same thing. Mother Nature will even it out, but last year I had already harvested some, stupidly, early, and although our target is always mid- late October, things were a.little more progressed 12 months ago. This spring it was cold late. Just my humble opinion.

I had motion flood lights that were getting tripped. It didn't matter while they were in veg. When they should have started flowering, they did not and the motion lights were then kept off. I believe this disrupted the light cycle and delayed the beginning of the flowering period. It's the same as growing in a tent - you switch to 12 - 12 and they start flowering. You can keep them in veg as long as you want.

Last yr was good flower weather here in sw maine,This yr is the best i have ever seen 40 plus yrs growing! zero bud rot this yr unheard of around here we are in a severe drought.
I have had a little rot over the last couple weeks, nothing I can't deal with right now. We had a lot of foggy overnights up until recently here at the beach. But I agree it's a much better year than normal.

Mid to late october? Thats crazy. I’m seeing the early finishers already done and the late guys need another 10 days or so. All 45-50 day strains. Preflower 7/10 and the others 8/6

I have two strains going and they prefer 8-10 weeks, that puts me at halloween. I had adopted these so it wasn't planned, but doesn't change the fact they have a 8-10 week suggested flower time.

Now I won't give them that, but if I could, I would.

Still not sure how chop timing will be here. Last year I just had the three World of Seeds Afghan Kush in pots and could bring them into my sunroom easily - and in fact did bring them in permanently on Oct 4th to keep the caterpillars off of them. Ended up chopping them on Oct 9th, 11th and 14th respectively.

This year both Balkhi look to be a week or two ahead of where the AK were last year, and the Waziri are just hard to figure out - both are still stacking, but I did see some amber trichs on a pistil from one of them when I looked in the microscope just for chuckles yesterday. But the calyxes are still bulking up. Add to that the fact that there are two rather different Waziri phenos - one squatter and more Indica-looking and the other leggier with more space between flowers, and I’m pretty much flummoxed LOL

I will say I’m doing a much better job of managing the caterpillar problem this year than last, which makes me more willing to push the envelope a bit. Temp got down to maybe 40 last night, and the plants have had zero reaction except for some purpling of leaf veins on the tips of the Balkhi colas.

Not sure what’s going on, my plants seem to have completed stopped growing. All the buds look like there still in week 3 of flower, just a ball of pistols. I haven’t seen any significant growth in a couple weeks. They look 100% healthy otherwise, not a deficiency in sight and great color and vigor. Just extremely slow growth. Not like it’s been insanely cold either I don’t get it
