Are you seriousI think the real issue here is the fact that you're talking this kid into plugging 600w metal halides directly into a 120v wall socket. Bro, DO NOT DO THAT!
So i should choose 4 of those for my 4x8 grow tent over 2 spiderfarmer 4000s? i can run those on 120v outlets? I can plug several into a surge protector?they are better than hps ( more efficient) i would go with that or plain ol' hps/mh lights if money is a problem

I looked at the lights that were posted and realized they weren't as powerful as I thought. I think getting in the habit of plugging high powered HPS into wall sockets is a slippery slope. I had a buddy with a 6 lighter 800w HPS and it started an electrical fire. Just sketchy imo. Hot and sketchy. But maybe I'm just biased. But if the kid wants to add lights down the line, and he's in the habit of plugging HPS into 120v sockets...idk man, kinda just makes me cringe. Why not plug into a 120v wall socket? I saw your added post before it was deleted but I am curious why you feel this is an issue? I currently have my 1000watt HPS/MH plugged into a 120v outlet along with my fans and have no issues, it is running full power. If you have a standard 120v 15 amp breaker you can pull 1800 watts, if you have a 20 amp breaker you can pull 2400 watts and if you have a 25 amp breaker you can pull 3000 watts. There is no reason you cannot plug them into a standard outlet. 15 amp is standard I believe but still more than capable. Were you mixing up volts with watts? That happens fairly frequently.
Plugging a 1000W HPS into 120v sockets is less power draw than your standard space heater (1500w).I looked at the lights that were posted and realized they weren't as powerful as I thought. I like the thing that guy just linked me so i can read and see a bunch of information on these lights. I also want to go with lower cost per month on electricity.I looked at the lights that were posted and realized they weren't as powerful as I thought. Yeah..how about 8 of them? Like, enough light to fill a standard sized bedroom? All on the same breaker, or would you just run extension cords from all over the rest of the house? Messy.Plugging a 1000W HPS into 120v sockets is less power draw than your standard space heater (1500w).
Nothing scary about it.

Not to sure I know anyone except maybe @Renfro that runs 8kW of HPS in their house...you can do a lot with 3kW...Yeah..how about 8 of them? Like, enough light to fill a standard sized bedroom? All on the same breaker, or would you just run extension cords from all over the rest of the house? Messy.
Well, LED is the clear winner on power consumption and safety, but they're more expensive up front. Idk bro, I guess I'm a little biased. I would never start plugging multiple high wattage ballasts into 120v outlets. Super ghetto. And as you expand your grow (which most of us do) it's nice to be able to fill a room or a garage with lights and fans and not worry about wattage overloads, extension cords running from other places in the house so you don't flip breakers etc. I'm a stubborn asshole and this is my opinion. Sorry HPS/MH guys, I think you're getting left in the past. Twice the power draw, electric bill, heat...not many benefits except the up front cost.I like the thing that guy just linked me so i can read and see a bunch of information on these lights. How many 600wNot to sure I know anyone except maybe @Renfro that runs 8kW of HPS in their house...you can do a lot with 3kW...
Edit....and you would need 5-6kW if led to replace the hid anyway...
I live in Humboldt. I don't know many people who don't have a 6-8 lighter in their garage. Especially now that so many of us are laid off.Not to sure I know anyone except maybe @Renfro that runs 8kW of HPS in their house...you can do a lot with 3kW...

You get some really good dense buds with the leds? Got any pictures of any buds you have grown with them?Well, LED is the clear winner on power consumption and safety, but they're more expensive up front. Idk bro, I guess I'm a little biased. This is a 4x8 under 2 SF-4000's. Light is hitting all corners really well. Nice even canopy. 8 plants, ScrOG style. Those plants look awesome
Thank you for that man perfect view of what i was looking for. So many choices. I like that setup a lot. This is a 4x8 under 2 SF-4000's. Light is hitting all corners really well. Nice even canopy. 8 plants, ScrOG style.

I'm from Michigan actually bro. I'm good on those -25° winters! I own a lawn and tree service company, but shit has been slow. Taking it easy and watching plants grow while the state burns all around me! Hopefully there's some lawns and trees left when this is all overYou could move out here to the midwest.
