For sure. More than a few growing outside in our town; I can smell plants on the breeze every morning/evening as I drive down just my (long) street. It’s a wonderful thing, a very wonderful thing; it’s as it *should* have been all along in our beautiful country - a freedom of personal choice. The true American Way.
theres also the hemp farm about a mile from me:weed:

You two probably see each other at the gas station every day, or associate in real life and just have no clue :p
Haha Probably

Does anyone have experience with Ona Gel? I think that I’m going to dry in my basement instead of my shed in an attempt to better control temp&RH, but I don’t want my entire house(and specifically clothes) reeking of fresh marijuana.
What other options are there?

Don't use ona in the same room you're drying in.

I went a bit further than the basics with roll up sides, a ridge vent and full automation. The sides were made 2 feet higher by using base posts. You can see this in the construction thread.

For the basics,

1.3' chain link fence top rail tube 2x per 12' hoop. I spaced the hoops at 4' increments with doubles at the ends for future light dep.

Tube bender

Poly cover.

Wiggle wire.
wow this is so kind of you! thanks much

Things have been going well so far, been spared on PM and rot for the most part. This dry and windy weather is clutch right now! Few spots of PM that get spot treated with greencure, I have a batch of LABS I made earlier in the season ready to go if it starts getting out of control. Maybe pulled off a few would-be grams of rot which definitely wont be the last. One of the buds that got rot was from a seeded calyx that did its natural thing and died once the seed finished...definitely not good since there could be more - its like these could be little rot bombs hidden all throughout the garden if theres anymore seeds I didnt pick off in time.
I definitely can see the buds are nowhere near as fat as last years crop, heres a Critical + 2.0 cola from this day last year and a Critical Super Silver Haze cola now. These plants have similar genetics and in veg looked exactly the same. The bud structure and smell is pretty similar too just not the size.

My strawberry cough is completely yellow. Its worse at the top middle, looks like the buds coming off the top main branches have bad retardation and what looks like leaf burn compared to the lower side colas which are developing fine and look way greener. She had some weird mutations early on at the top shoots and it probably didn't help that my soil mix was too light in the nute department.

Cold weather been bringing out some beautiful colors on the bagseed though.

Hey gang, few pics and a few questions here. First off I have some pictures off my dope scope, which proves how misleading they can be. This is the reason I harvested too soon last year.... As you can see in some of these crappy pics, the scope connects directly in the phone, most of my trichomes are clearly cloudy. Some were even amber, it was a terrible mistake, one I'll never make again. So I'm not counting on these readings anymore. Allegedly the calyx will provide accurate readings, I believe this to be true, but my calyxs' are not quite swollen enough to provide me a good look. There are still way too many white pistils, as you'll See in my next post, as I have pics on the phone, and pics on the camera I need some advice on as well.

I scope them too. That looks pretty good. For me all cloudy trikes, maybe a few clear and 15% amber is optimal. Keep in mind that different parts of the plant will be at different stages. But the best buds on top get priority.

Ok, so remember the bear on my porch? Turns out it wasnt a bear, but a skunk. I used to have a big Fat Skunk that watched out over my garden, kind of as a security guard. But Daisy was much bigger, I think a female, and I believe this is an offspring. Seems she is rare as well, as this skunk has a Black stripe and white tail, instead of one or two white stripes with a black tail.

Now to the garden. I showed pictures where I had to chop the top of that cola because it had bud rot. It left this yellow wound which I am wondering if I should spray with hydrogen peroxide or something that kills bud rot, you can see in the middle there is almost a brown core... too bad, it was abeautiful bud. I dont want to chop early, but if the plant begins to exhibit signs of rot, should I just chop it or let it go. I have not heard of any way to treat bud rot that begins at the inner core, anyone?

AADSCN2024.jpg

So this is the bottom half of the cola I had to chop. Good news is I havent seen any more as of yet, and although all weather reports looked good a few days ago, now we have fog Th Fr Sat, and rain showers Sun Mon Tue Wed and Fri. As with Mother Nature, all things are due to change. But I guess its a coin toss wether its for the better or the worse. ARRGHH!!.

Next item is that the plants seem to have weathered the 3 day frost, which was actually 3 day weather in the 30's, and they soaked up the feeding I provided. Now the tips are starting to do a 'Missile' thing where they are coming to more of a point, see next pic...

DSCN2025.JPG

As opposed to the 'Round Top' fat colas we all love to see, next pic...

DSCN2028.JPG

Errr, wait, round top...

DSCN2011.JPG

I dont know what the pointy top thing is, hopefully its stretching out just a little more and will fill out in the last few weeks. Might be able to pull of a first to second week of October harvest, and If that the case, Im going to need to start flushing the first week of October. Guess I will have to wait until the first to see if I am going to give them one last feeding, or start the flush.

I want to thank you all for your pics, advice and general social knowledge sharing. I find I use this site not more than FB, but AS my fb, lol, and I know a lot of you are probably sick of seeing all my posts in their redundancies. It gives me something to do and with my health issues, I cant get around much, so this is my thing right now. Beats the hell out of PornHub I think. Umm, not that I really know what PornHub is, lol. But you get my drift.

All I got for now, peace.

These cloudy trichome pics are right from the tops of the buds, yet as you can see in some of my many other pics, I have wayyyy too many white pistils that still need to change color. I let them go as long as possible, until the leaves begin to die and turn yellow all over the plant, and to get as close to the end of the life cycle of the plant as possible. That being said, we all have our own specific methods to which we have learned or 'go to' to determine when it is time.

I am wishing all our MA growers the best of luck, hoping I can kick back the clock to mid-October instead of the end. Its all a race now to beat out that filthy bud rot. I have some pretty thick colas, and I had the experience one year where they all looked fantastic, til one morniing I went out and my finger went 'Splooosh!' right into a baseball bat sized cola and all the way in to the stalk. Inside rot had wrecked my dreams, and was completely invisible until it was too late. So timing is everything, vigilance is important, and we are all at the whims of Mother Nature.

All for now, enjoy your day.

Zeez, I have been told by some real gurus that it the calyx and only the calyx that will give you the proper and correect reading in regards to trichomes and their cloudiness. Anywhere else, bud, tops, anything else will and does give you a false reading. These cloudy trichome pics are right from the tops of the buds, yet as you can see in some of my many other pics, I have wayyyy too many white pistils that still need to change color. I am of the school that lets them go as long as possible, until the leaves begin to die and turn yellow all over the plant, and to get as close to the end of the life cycle of the plant as possible. That being said, to each their own, we all have our own specific methods to which we have learned or 'go to' to determine when it is time.

I am wishing all our MA growers the best of luck, hoping I can kick back the clock to mid-October instead of the end. Its all a race now to beat out that filthy bud rot. I must say, I have what appears to be really thick, dense buds right now.

Anyone ever heard that adding sugar water to your plants near the end stage can make your buds much denser? I believe I read it in the Bible of Growing, by Damn, was it Jose Cervantes? Heres where to get a free copy:

Marijuana Horticulture: The Indoor/Outdoor Medical Grower’s Bible

ONCE YOU DOWNLOAD THIS GO HERE TO CONVERT TO PDF FREE

This is a WEALTH of growers knowledge we all should have. If you have problems getting this, email me and I will try to email you the free copy. The man is, a true guru.

All for now, enjoy your day
My post said top buds get priority. With plants that are usually at least half as round as they are tall, it's not like there is just one calyx or apical bud on a plant that has 20 - 40 tops. It's necessary to scope out the whole plant. If you like Jorge Cervantes AKA George Van Patten, just buy his book on amazon. Fifteen bucks won't kill you and pirate copies aren't cool. The sugar water thing - meh.

How much longer you think?

Next my tall SFV OG mix: has these cool green pistils, and purpling bud; again don’t actually know what’s really I’m this strain.

I think I was wrong on my diagnosis of Mag excess(tho Ca+ supp did help) and now realizing it’s probably leaf spot, which I’m okay with it won’t really affect my harvest it set in so late. Live and learn! Hoping a couple more weeks on this what you think?

Yeah I havent tried it either, I dont think it is a pirated copy at all, Im not down with that kind of stuff, it is PDF Drive.com and that book has been on that site for a long time. And I do agree, you do gotta look at the whole plant, thats why I am putting the scope back in the drawer and just using the method that I and many before me have used for years. My eyeball, lol.

BTW, thats an incredible pic you have there of the trikes, can I ask what kind of scope that you used? Mine is obviously an inferior type.

Great Pics WarFox, that top pic seems to be coming right along, what you thinking, a week or two maybe? Ten days. Question, you flushing yet? Do you flush? Some people believe its a myth while others say it removes the salts. What say you? This last pic ya, two weeks - ish.

Thos yellow pistils are Crazeeee!!! I got a lot turning purple out there too right now, amazing pics, cant wait til mine look that good. I feel like Im the caboose on a runaway train, but Ill catch up!!

HIGH WIND ALERT CENTRAL AND WESTERN MASS!!! RED FLAG!!!

Just went out to find 8 pots knocked over, including 4 5 gallon buckets, there is NO WARNING and weather says 7-10 mph winds. My ass. Its incredibly windy out here, water your pots to get them as heavy as possible if you cant take them in.

TAKE MEASURES!!!!! Weather is showing zilch, but trust me, seeing half your garden laying on the ground is a heartbreaker.
