Checking trichomes

I got myself a magnifier to check trichomes. Where on the bud should i be looking? It seems some areas are in different stages than others. Sugar leaves have more amber.
 
you need to look on calix of buds themselves. Noy leaves. Also look at multiple buds because they are different each and every one. I harvest a bud at a time for my personal smoke. Sometimes a plant takes a month to harvest. I dont "always" do it that way but if I'm not lazy I do. It makes a more consistent smoke . Just my .02
 
Thanks! I will try looking on the calyx. I'll be hanging the whole plant to dry so guess I'll have some ripe some not when I chop.

I have never had much success with a loop, I got a 200x USB scope. It is very hard to keep steady though.

I tell myself I'm going to do this and I end up chopping the whole plant to just get the new ones in.
